I respect people who do this or cut the cord to save 100 bucks a year
But nah, not for me.

Is your neighbor a Chinese guy named Lou with a penchant for strippers?

So wait, these people basically turn off their A/C for 12 hours a day and then non-stop run it for 12 hours a day?
That seems like a great way to blow out your system.

My electricity is $65/month right now in the peak of TX summer.
How small is your trailer exactly?

No.
It's generally the super-peak hours (1-6 pm) that you have to really be careful with in the summer.
Spring and fall are not much worry. Winter usually not either but they can get weird.

They watch the market and shut down when prices are high. After the market stress has subsided (usually 7 or 8 pm) they go back to normal and after 9 or 10 pm they crank the A/C down to 65 because it's only 2 cents a killowatt/hr for them when it's 10 cents for flat rate customers.

It ain't the poors its bothering, they'll sit with no A/C and find something else to do.
It's the businesses and upper middle class that signed up for what they thought was a great deal. Now Texas is going thru pretty shortages and heat waves they are forced trying to keep their business fronts and 4500sqft houses cool while paying $9/kWh in the hottest part of the day.
Today's latest from a local sub shop that had to close down because they couldnt afford to run power

Like I said, you need to understand what you are getting into before you choose Griddy.
It passes all of the price risk directly to the end user.

If you are a Griddy customer, go ahead and crank your AC to 65.
It's only 1.8 cents a kw right now.

If they’re smart they would fill up some balloons with cold air now and pop them in the afternoon to cool down.

I’m fascinated this even exists

Griddy sounds way too close to Grinder...you’ll get butt fricked either way.
I am glad I am in Louisiana where this wholesale crap is nonexistent, but we still get hosed with fees such as the fuel adjustment fee and storm restoration charges.

It exists in Louisiana, you just don't have direct access to it. Those fuel adjustments are market spikes that are passed on by your utility, but amortized over time.
The Griddy customer feels those cost spikes immediately but also feels them go away immediately.
ETA: prices in some parts of Texas are about 1/10 a cent per kwh. That's nearly free.

It would be awesome to have a system to charge batteries large enough to run your regular house electricity. When it dips down just charge them suckers up and run off them any time it spikes over a set limit.
Need to go befriend a sparky and see what I could do. Be a helluva better use of my storage shed

I pay ga power under 2cents a kwh between 11pm and 7am [eta: actually under a penny right now] on my "electric car" charging plan (we had a 2 year leaf lease back when they were basically free cars in Georgia and just never changed plans). I make the house freezing all night then coast through the day. In summer you just have to watch the super peak (2pm-7pm) summer rate. My house is 85 years old w very little insulation and my power bills are nothing.
