The best gift I ever got was a nice set of grilling utensils. Use them all the time.

I gave my groomsmen a nice set of coasters, but that was almost 10 years ago when I didn't have any money- i will say that I'm pretty sure every groomsmen still uses their coasters, though, so it was definitely a functional gift, even if not the most expensive. If I had to do it again, I'd probably go with an ice chest or a Yeti Mug and a nice bottle of booze.

Who decided groomsmen gifts had to have initials on them?

I feel this is very feminine.

Even a small Sebenza 21 will run at least $350, and MAYBE one of the groomsmen will know how nice of a gift they received. My favorite groomsmen gift ever was a pocket knife, and it sure as hell wasn't a Sebenza!

If the OP's friends are the type of guys that can appreciate a pocket knife, maybe something like Benchmade, Spyderco, Al Mar, etc. may be more in line with his budget?

Haha it just depends on your friends. My friends aren't terribly wealthy or snobby, but they've all got much better knives than what I could give them for 50 bucks. The Sebenza was just an exaggerated example, I definitely am not doing that.

But, for example, Filson just had a pretty significant sale and if I was getting married I might have picked up several of their deeply discounted duffles or carry ons and had them monogrammed if I was getting married. Still not cheap at 80-130 bucks or so, but I know that would be something that would actually make their rotation.

Barware is always a good bet IMO, and the cooler thing sounds decent though I've never gotten/given one. For anything monogrammed, just go classic and simple, I've gotten decent gifts that I've never used because the monogramming is so awful.

Having monogrammed stuff is pretty classically male, although it can be over the top. Also, if it is nice enough, it is good as legacy stuff too. I'll inherit some nice monogrammed stuff from my dad, and while I obviously don't want every day stuff with someone elses initials, some of it is going to be made better by the fact that it's labeled as his.

Got all the groomsmen knives, nothing crazy like these Chris Reeve Sebenza knives, but still they were a hit.

Also got all the groomsmen and the fathers ties for the day.

Just know the audience. Getting pewter business card cases for guys who don't use business cards is a flop, etc.

Tell them they can either build it, sell it or use it as a paperweight

Bottle of their favorite liquor.

Share a bottle of a nice scotch on wedding day, give them the scotch glasses.
