Any back country cross country skiers? Ski recs?

I live in a pretty remote area in AK and while I was here a little last winter this will be my first full winter here. I’m looking for back country skis to get out on hiking trails (fairly steep) and out on frozen lakes. I just ordered the Black Diamond Glidelite 147’s but I think I want x-country skis as well. Any recs? I’ve only rented skis before so the bindings and boots are all new to me. Recs on those as well? I got the universal bindings for the BD’s.

Get a snow machine.
I tried when I moved here. Wasn’t a dealer within 8 hour drive of where I lived. Bought my boat in March, three truck hauls and three barges later it finally arrived in Aug. Will be easier to buy a used one already in a village out this way, hopefully next year.
Also have a fat tire bike that I’ll use quiet a bit this winter.

SilverStar in Vernon, BC has the best system of cross country ski trails in the world.

Get liberty origin 116s or icelantic natural 111s with AT bindings. They are both light and great for powder. That will require you to get new boots if yours are not set up for AT currently. Buy a pair of skins and you’ll have a solid backcountry kit.

That’s funny. These are actually an alternative to snowshoes in mild terrain. There were just introduced last year and several of the locals changed to these for trapping and ice fishing.

Love the outdoors, hunting, fishing, etc. Didn’t want to move too far away from my home in MS while my dad was alive. He passed in Dec and I moved in May. Was able to transfer to my dream job. I was able to do a short stint out here last winter and I think my dad was even more excited than me about the opportunity. Just hate he never got to visit.
If you are familiar with AK I’m right in the middle of Lake Clark Park and Preserve. It’s about 4 million acres and has just about everything AK has to offer...lakes, mountains, volcanoes, glaciers, great fishing, hunting, etc.
