Well, I can only speak for myself. I am independent and have voted Democrat more than I have voted Republican in my life. I am fiscally conservative but support democrat policies on gay rights, early term abortion etc. I’ve basically voted for every winner since adulthood. Clinton, Bush, Obama, and then abstained in 2016 because both candidates made me want to put a bullet in my mouth.
I will not vote Democrat for the foreseeable future. I do not support socialist extreme left wing policies. While the Republican Party has move center, Democrats have gone so far left they are off the reservation. Over 40% of Americans are independent. I don’t think the Democrats are doing anything to get that vote. I also think middle class African Americans are starting to read through their bullshite. Trump has more African American votes in 2016 than Bush. I expect an increase over 2016 in 2020.
