I think retirement age would increase and things like social security would cease to exist or continue to be pushed upwards in age.

It really comes down to how functional these 100+ year old people are. If they are senile, I might tend towards agreeing with you but if they are functioning adults, well there has been over a century of steadily increasing lifespans and of all the economic collapses to occur in that time frame, the causation was always irresponsible lending practices or bad investing.

Not really, people have always lived into their 70’s. It’s just that now we’ve cut way back on the things that would have killed a lot of people when they’re young so the average age has gone up a lot.

The average life expectancy for a European male in the 13th and 14th centuries was 31.3 years. It is now 76.

I did. I just didn't remark on it because you were so incredibly wrong it was hardly worth responding to.

No, I’m not. Do you have any idea what child and teen mortality rates were in the 13th century vs today? Are you aware of a little thing called the black plague?

Usually women take it down a few notches in crazyness after menopause. Thanks modern advances.

Would suck unless people could work until they’re 120.

People living to 150 will crush economic systems.

Not if we simply change the social security retirement age, pension retirement ages, and cultural expectations of when people should retire.

you are going to work till you are 125 years old. You will have a century to save for 25 years of retirement. And you can grow an 11 inch pecker, I don’t see the problem.

In your mind, perhaps.

Well in the Middle Ages, you typically had a 30-50 percent chance of dying before you made it to the age of five. No one really knows the actual figures as records among the peasant class were rarely kept. We can only hazard a guess, and the guess is between 30-50 percent. Today it's roughly four percent.

Between 1500-1800, the average life expectancy for a male of European descent was still between 30-40 years of age. It had nothing to do with the Black Death. It had everything to do with primitive medicine and hygienic practices. A fever could kill a person very easily up until about 100 years go. Now we have Tylenol.

Advances in medicine and healthcare has more than doubled the average life expectancy of the planet since 1900. Hell...in 1950, the average life expectancy was still hovering below 50. Now it's hovering at about 72.

Why do you guys think society has started this whole fat is beautiful campaign? It's so diabetes or heart attack will still kill most of the younger generation by age 65.

Okay which politician again is going to tell the 64 year olds that their retirement is now 56 years later?

Who decides the cut off age for this change in culture?

You are talking about millions of people here.

I don't think people will be forced to take this pill if it ever gets approved.

It will be optional.

Therefore, if someone wants to live to be 150 they will also have the option to work as long as they want.

Nobody is forcing them to do anything.

And theoretically of they have saved $x and were planning on living off jist the interest, then they could still retire when they originally planned.

Only now they get a whole nother 60+ years to frick around.

If that was the case today, people born right after the Civil War would just now be dying off! Those old guys would be insufferable... "I lived the first 60 years of my life without electricity", "real football was playing with leather helmets", "when did Arizona become a state!"

not exactly. the old stats factor in a super high infant mortality rate which dropped the average lifespan considerably.

shite...i guess it does make sense now that i think about it. no infants dying means more folsk living to a longger life fuk im drunk
