Another one of those news stories that just kind of got swept under the rug

Maryland couple slain at Delaware veterans cemetery visited son’s grave almost daily, surviving son says
SIAP
So, grandma and grandpa get shot in the head in a veterans cemetery visiting their son’s grave and it barely makes footnotes in the news, no round table discussions about racism, or mental illness, or anything for that matter, not an outrage was given, but a felon gets killed by a police officer and we burn the country down. Tell me what world in which this makes good sense. Is it the fact that it was on video? If we saw grandma and grandpa get capped while visiting their son’s grave, would that cause a meltdown in society? Would Antifa riot and demand change, or how about BLM, would they comment on the matter?
SIAP
quote:
Before they were shot and killed May 8 in what authorities say seemed to be a random attack, Maryland couple Paul and Lidia Marino spent part of almost every day visiting the Delaware grave of their son Anthony, who died in 2017.
“It was like a regimen,” their son Ray Marino, 60, one of two surviving sons along with twin Paul Jr., told the Cecil Whig newspaper of Cecil County, Maryland, last week.
“Mom and Dad visited my brother’s grave every single day, without fail, unless there was inclement weather. They usually went there in the morning.”
quote:
But around 10:15 a.m. on that fateful Friday, at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, the elderly couple – ages 86 and 85 – were both shot, just yards from their son’s grave, with Lidia dying at the scene and Paul, a U.S. Army veteran, dying in a hospital a day later. The gunman was later identified as Sheldon Francis, 29, of Middletown, Del. Police responding to the scene later found him dead from a gunshot wound in a neighborhood near the cemetery.
quote:
It wasn’t immediately clear if he shot himself or was struck by police gunfire, the New York Post reported. No motive was apparent either, the Delaware State Police told the Cecil Whig. “He came up behind them, pulled out a handgun and did his thing. He shot our dad in the back of the head and then he shot our mom,” Ray said. “We don’t know if he shot our mom first in front of our dad or if he shot our dad first in front of our mom. We don’t even know if they saw him.”

The guy that killed them got killed himself. Terrible, terrible tragedy, but justice has already been served.

Well, they’re prosecuting the cop that killed Floyd on murder charges to seek justice, but that wasn’t enough to stop buildings from going up in flames, looting, and people getting put in the hospital or the morgue.

You’ve completely missed the point the OP is trying to make. It’s a double standard.

These are two unrelated issues. No one in the BLM movement is going to say the couple deserved to get killed or that the gunman deserves to be free for what he did. It was a random act of violence.
Not involved in this case was a governmental position of authority (aka Police) killing an unarmed minority. That is what BLM is about.

More white people are killed by cops than black.

They’re related in this, both are murders involving the murderer being of a different race from the victim(s), and yet one demands round table discussions on race relations, and the other isn’t even a blip on the radar. One we are told is guaranteed systemic racism, and the other we no more care about or even discuss. One causes the country to lose it’s fricking mind, and the other barely gets even a mention, yet we are so focused on “JUSTICE” and righting the wrongs, and getting rid of racism. Which justice, which wrongs, which racism?
The point is this... If this country ever really wants to move forward in seeking justice, righting the wrongs, or getting rid of racial hatred, we will start speaking out against all of it when we see it. When we speak about violence within the police departments across the country, we will also speak out against the violence in neighborhoods every day which begets more and more violence in those neighborhoods. When we speak out against white racism, we will also speak out against black racism.

Doesn’t fit the narrative, so yeah it’s just a blip on the radar unfortunately.

How do you define random?
When black Americans are taught to hate and resent white people you should not be surprised to see a pattern emerge. The pattern is not so random at all.

The news is biased and has an agenda? I, for one, am shocked!

True
That is what BLM is about.
Ideally...yes. In practice? I’m not so sure.

frick no it's not

Even if this guy yelled “frick whitey” as he did this, it would not matter. Does not fit the narrative, but it would be great to see black people falling all over themselves to apologize to white people. To see celebrities and major corporations pander to white people endlessly.

Why are you people so insistent on coming up with false equivalencies?
Posted on 6/14/20 at 8:41 am to Mike da Tigah
I mean you're free to protest and try to make this story more known. Or you could just make a TD thread about it.

That’s it, let’s rally and burn up some shite. Take down MLK statues and rename all streets.

Why didn’t white people stage protests?
