Most home invasions are carried out by bad guys dressed as cops. Noodle that one for awhile.
ETA: Sentrius, I know you get it. My post was for the other people who don't understand the problems inherent in no-knock warrants.

No, it lies on the ignorant cops that did not identify themselves.
No knock warrants should be illegal, and every member of these socalled "SWAT" teams should be wearing body cameras during ever raid.

This is more often what happens when the good guys knock first and shots are fired.

He's got Dick Deguerin.
He's going to be fine.
He's going to be fine.

NO. The cop is responsible. It was the cop that busted into a man's house in the middle of the night.
The police have no business performing no knock's. NONE.
I hate to see anyone get killed, but if someone has to die in a given situation, I hope it is not the innocent one. In this case, it was the cop that busted into the man's house, the man did not bust into the cop's house. I am glad the citizen is still alive. Maybe if it went this way more often, rather than an innocent civilian (having drugs does not remove the innocence in my opinion-they are not out harming anyone which is the reason I consider them innocent)cops may think before acting like criminals.

Its a dangerous job, and cops should just accept the fact that its dangerous instead of playing the "so I can go home at the end of the day card."
Civil liberties and laws that LEOs are entrusted in enforcing/upholding trump them coming home at the end of the day, just like the freedoms guaranteed by the constitution trumped me coming home at the end of a deployment.
Its the way it works, and its the way this country was built. If cops cant accept that and march on then they need to find a new line of work.

Sorry, I disagree. How would he know it was a cop? By them yelling "police". That doesn't cut it. As I said earlier that's the M.O. of home invaders.

The guy had a few plants in his house that amounted to a misdemeanor. He had 2 prior DUI arrests. No felonies. Owned guns legally. Only knees that jeopardized anyone's safety was the swat team and judge. Don't go busting in doors for non violent offenders.

No felonies and a DUI, plus he could own guns legally. What a clusterfrick.

In general, the law says otherwise. This was a stupid incident all the way around. At least it was the right house this time, and they didn't kill a guy defending himself against their stupidity.

Yep. Should make LE reevaluate these warrants.

All too often, the cops are not the good guys.
I do not see someone as a bad guy because they have some pot in their home. The cop that was killed in the most recent no knock, was not a good guy, IMO

i never plan to be in a predicement where i will have a " no knock " warrant issued, so if ever a group of men bust into my apartment/house unannounced I'm pretty sure i will begin to unload if weapon is in reach.
it does suck tremendously that a cop who is trying to serve and protect lost his life though.

you're god damn right. if someone breaks into your house, they do not get any benefit of the doubt. you don't pause for a second and ponder if he's a cop, you do what you feel is necessary to protect your family
This is the only way to look at this. Those cops had no business doing that type of raid for what the charges supposedly were for
You cant make a decision on if you should shoot or not. In that situation, things are happening way too quick.
I would charge the judge for signing that stupid fricking warrant to begin with. That was overkill for something that could have been handled with normal search warrant.
Its not nearly as fun for the cops though as kicking someone's door down

How is he alive? you fire on a cop or a swat team with the exception of the boston PD and now tejas would be dead. ODD VERY ODD

Good question. Also something tells me this guy will mysteriously end up dead before this goes to trial.

We had a guy open up on police officers that went to his house for a domestic violence complaint a year ago, he fired up to 100 shots at responding officers.
He was taken without a shot being fired back, and he was uninjured in the process. In fact his was allowed to walk out on his own terms.
He was also until a few months prior a Lt. on the police force.
