We are just not going to agree on this, based on our different interpretations of the very short video.
That is ok.
The world of shite that will come of this...which also includes a much bigger target on wife and kid (if they were wife and kid)...i hope it was worth it to him

Of course he was provoked. That was never in question. Acting on that provacation, and especially the way he acted, has been the topic of discussion. In addition, talk has been about us not knowing what extents he took to diffuse the situation.

Revenge being the primary means of settling disputes is the opposite of civilization. Civilization is better defined as a reliance on the law (government in some form) to dispense justice in lieu of cycles of violence which can easily escalate with each act of revenge.
It would have been better for that guy to avoid hitting her with enough force to potentially cause real harm - but you tacitly signing off on someone else performing a premeditated revenge against a woman and child is obviously even worse.

The interesting thing about the other video (thread just got cut) is the woman was showing no body language that indicated she thought she or the child was being threatened. Arms crossed and the child was between her and the angry group.
As an attorney, I would never let her present testimony that she felt threatened, it would derail the entire defense. The man obviously could have felt they were threatened though. He is asserting through his attorney that he suffers from PTSD.
This will plead if it doesn't get dropped, no way he takes a chance on a Buncombe County jury with this.
Also interesting the girl refused medical care, she has one seriously hard head, if I walked into that hook from a 250# 6-5 dude I would be on concussion protocol and asking for an MRI after I bounced off the concrete.
