American Airlines Boeing 777 with 249 people on board makes emergency landing at LAX after 'mechanical problem' - the SIXTH incident in just over week for the plane maker and days after whistleblower killed himself

Lucky for United, this one wasn't one of their planes... They can claim 4/6 though.

Just boarded an Airbus heading to LAX. Thank you Airbus.

That said, the new Boeing fleet for Delta is pretty damn nice. At least I’d die in comfort.

What hasn't been determined is what is truly Boeing's fault (we know Max issue was and door plug was factory) and what is routine maintenance from the airlines.

Tire issue on United 777 last week was def maintenance

You still have better odds on a plane. Frontier only operates Airbus planes if that helps anyone.

I live in north Alabama and have a work conference in Aurora, Colorado next week. I’m driving. Between the physical and mental torture that flying has become and the fact I have zero faith in the people building, maintaining, and now even flying the planes, until something changes, my flying days are over.

Yup, I fly almost weekly and none of this has bothered me one bit.

Was on a Boeing yesterday and will be on another this afternoon.

Good choice.

I refuse to fly domestic anymore. I load my shite up in one of my trucks and maybe my wife's bulldog and drive.

#1 reason--I'm armed the while trip and at my destination.

Dumb. No one has died in any of the events mentioned.

It is going to take A LOT of crashes with fatalities before flying becomes more dangerous than driving.

I think it’s the idea of mass fatalities that freaks everyone out.

If 4/6 were United, may it's United screwing up and not Boeing.

I guess you like not being armed at your destination. That's one of the times you "should" be armed.

An unknown city where you could easily end up a block from where you intended to be and nothing but your briefcase by your side. Sounds like an interesting contingency plan.

I’m provided a vehicle allowance, fuel card, and I’m paid mileage. And I use to be a field rep, so spending all day behind the wheel of a pickup truck is something I’m both use to doing and quite comfortable with.

Before last summer, I use to fly frequently for business, at least 5-6 times a year. But the experience got to be absolute torture. Multiple times of being left stranded on tarmacs for an hour or more, twice in aircraft where the A/C either didn’t work or could not keep up, was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

I’m pretty sure it has more to do with shitty maintenance from United… Southwest and American aren’t having any of these problems.
