We bought our first dining room and living room sets at Pier 1. In the 70's and 80's, this was the cool place for young singles and couples to furnish their apartments. With the incense and beads and candles, it was a step up from a head shop.

In the 70s it was all about bamboo and paper shades and lanterns.

At least for us the home good is big enough to be all of those stores combined...it's fricking awful.

The Pier 1 here in Monroe sold exotic pets in the 70's.
They had an octopus that always tried to escape the tank. Lionfish and I think some sea horses.
