The perp had a gun and was not cooperating with police. I'd say this was justified.

Didn't see the officer near the van

I still think it's better to let him flee than to open fire on a car full of passengers.

Justified, but the cop is lucky he didn't shoot the other cop who jumped in the car.

By passengers you mean the officer trapped in the front seat?

Do you think the officer trapped inside of the vehicle had a legit threat of death or great bodily harm?

So your friend cop is in the car and he discharges his weapon into the car.. to protect him

I'm going to guess that the SOP was not followed.

Most cops should not have firearms. Bodycam footage makes this obvious. Not saying this is an example of that.

if there wouldn't have been a cop in the car with him, then no

but the cop in the cars life was in danger, definitely justified and good shooting to not hit the cop in the car!

What do you suggest should have been done? Let the guy floor it in reverse and drive away with the injured officer inside?

Some people think you can break the law, curse, run over, try to run over an officer, and definitely say "He had no right to shoot him".

This country has too many stupid people among us

Surely you didn't include "cursing" as one of the justifiable reasons to shoot somebody?

Completely justified IMO.

What is the difference between this one and the one in SC where everyone here was saying the cop wasn't justified? Dude also ran away and just about ran over the cop. Same difference.

I don't understand what happened in the video. Who was being endangered when they shot him?

You serious or trying to troll? He almost took a few people out with the car and was about to backup and try it again.

Hell yes that was justified. If you endanger a cop with your vehicle that cop has the right to defend himself and the public with force.

Saddest part of the video is the child being exposed to the whole thing.
