I made a tradition of burning each year's Christmas tree. Every year they go up so quickly, that it makes me wonder why I just had this in my house. This year was no different, 9 foot tree, 30 foot flames.

“It’s burning the grass.”

“It’ll be alright.”

I saw 4LSU2 throw one in a little kick fire one evening.

I’ve never seen flames so high. I think he also threw the dining room chairs in there that night too

It was eye level for people standing on the deck. Lower corner of deck is 22 ft, I was probably 4' below grade, 6' person on deck = over 30', but I didn't check the math.

For the new years eve party we always burn the 2 15ft ones that we keep in the foyer and I take the boat out and drop the other 3 in an inconspicuous place on the lake and mark it on the GPS

My neighborhood in Midcity NOLA used to stack their trees in the neutral ground of Orleans Ave just south of City Park Ave and light all of them each New Year’s Eve.

The fire dept put a stop to it in the late 90s because the fires were so big. The city started having trash pickup clean the trees up before the fire could be started, so residents started saving their trees until the afternoon of 12/31 and then ran them out. But eventually the city won.

One of the last ones I went to, a guy ran up and threw one of the old metal gallon gas cans on the fire. The explosion felt like a thump about 30 yards away.

I lived in El Paso in the 7th grade. We were putting on a campfire demonstration at one of the Catholic church has during a very dry January. 1 kids found a couple of old Christmas trees in a nearby irrigation ditch so we brought them over and put them on the campfire. We ended up burning most of the grass around the Catholic Church before the fire was put out.

So basically it was a conifer inferno or what our family calls a coniferno.

The annual coniferno is a highly looked forward to event around the camp here.

Stepbro and I shot a few bundled at the curb with a roman candle in Shenandoah growing up. We never ran so fast thinking we just made Exxon 1989 again

It was an ugly tree anyway.

Seriously, I'm now scared to have one of those in my house.

Just the heat from the burn (not the flames) set the grass on fire.
