And the hole just keeps getting deeper

I called it in an unrelated thread the other day:
There are visionaries like Musk and Jobs and then there are these business suits who do nothing useful but instead spend all day spouting corporate buzz words in an echo chamber and then wonder why their business went down the shitter. These are the kind of myopic dipshits who fired Steve Jobs and then had to hire him back because they didn't know what the frick they were doing.

All MBAs have hammered dog shite for brains. They literally learn nothing in college except how to convince other people that they should listen to their ideas. Most C level execs are waterheads who have no idea how the real world works.

The head of marketing that resigned, didnt say this. She literally said oh our beer was seen as a fratty beer and we wanted to change that.
1. The story says the marketing person is "on leave" rather than that they resigned.
2. As for the wanting to change being seen as a "fratty" beer, well, objective achieved.

I suspect it is actually two things:
1) the competitors don't think they could deftly exploit this because they think the tiny minority in favor would go after them.
2) the peer competitors know that this just as easily could have been them as they likely think exactly the same on this.

Yes. Absolutely.

it’s extremely easy to switch beers. Their competitors are sold through the same stores and often on the same shelf.
A lot of people buy what they know. A lot of guys I know in the 50-70 year old range knew Budweiser and Bud Lite. They didn’t have any desire to try anything else……. Until recently. These people that were lifelong Bud Lite drinkers have dropped them cold. Brand loyalty is still a thing, until you screw up the face of the brand.

Hopefully, businesses use this fiasco to figure out that catering to vocal "woke" groups is generally a bad business move.
After I typed that paragraph, I read about Barstool Sports firing a popular figure because he read a racial slur while quoting a song's actual lyrics.
I could see some backlash for the firing.

We need to clarify the facts that this was one camp, one influencer, one post and not a campaign.

bullshite, bullshite, more bullshite, and ZERO fricking ownership. they made a beer can with an INFLUENCER (words have meaning) on it, and deliberately sent it to that INFLUENCER who has millions of direct followers on social media and tens or hundreds of millions of people who are aware of his existence, knowing full well that this person's entire existence centers around seeking out, generating, and thriving on attention. and they're going to tell us that it was "one can" and "not a campaign"?
i'll go put up a billboard in Times Square that says "TRANNIES ARE MENTALLY ILL" and try the "it was just one billboard" defense and see how that works for me.

I agree. Still, you'd think there might be a sea change to try and capture some of that market that's on the fence and keep them.
Something simple. Something honest
"Hey, beer drinkers. Sometimes what you don't say is as important as what you do say, and a lot has been said. We want to officially say this. We want your business. We know you have a lot of choices to drink, and if you choose our American brewed beverage, we thank you, sincerely. We're a company made up of men and women just like you, trying to make a living in these hard times, and we are proud when working hands reach for our beer. We aren't gonna preach at you, we aren't gonna get political...we're gonna proudly brew and deliver the beers you want. So, cheers, here's to beers."

Miller and Coors are doing exactly what they should be doing right now.
Keep your mouth shut and sell beer. They can laugh behind closed doors if they want.

Way to piss off both sides. This guy can't get out of his own way.

It seems so simple, but I'm sure in their management meetings there are people too afraid to pitch burying the Goliath that owned their market. If someone had the courage to pitch displacing inbev, there would be several idiots saying the business equivalent of we can't do that because silence is violence.

Too little too late. Why wait this long to back peddle? The CEO has handled this about as well as Biden handled the Afghanistan withdrawal. He needs to go.

Maybe now the mainstream media can see that we are tired of the alphabet brigade and their propaganda. Their 15 minutes of fame has been over for a while now. We need to turn our attention to the mental illness that is causing these issues in the first place. When a male becomes spokesperson for a feminine hygiene product, the train has left the rails
