I’d have a bourbon with these fine gentlemen.
My great-great-great grandfather was with the 27th LA and was captured at Vicksburg.

On my mother’s side from Mississippi, too many to count. On my dad’s side, one that I know of but they came to New Orleans from France only 30 years before the war started.

Had a great uncle captured in the Battle of Vicksburg. He got shipped to a prison in Illinois to serve until the end of the war. When he was released, he walked a North-South railroad track back to Mississippi.

Yeah. My grandparents took me to Vicksburg as a kid to see the memorial. Had relatives on both sides in that battle.
Then on other side had a relative that was injured in Cold Harbor .

I have a lot of ancestors who fought for the Confederacy and one who fought for the North who got removed from the family. Also Spanish American war, 1812, Revolutionary war. A lot of my tree was here pre 1750.

One of my ancestors from MS starved to death in Douglas prison camp in south Chicago. He’s buried in a mass grave there.

Yes my old family is from Georgia and I had one of my great grandfathers x2 I think that was with Lee at Appomattox. Cleaning out my parents house I found a ton of this stuff.
That stuff is now worth a good bit. Funny thing is that Confederate money that was virtually worthless for anything other than lighting fires, now can be more valuable that green-backs in many cases.

Now we know who can pay the reparations bill and handle all that shite.
