I’ve seen that kitchen IRL. But the kitchen was yellow with a light green Formica counter top. Yes, ugly now but acceptable in the day!

Fun fact: even back then, kitchens were eye-blinding white with natural wood accents. The difference was that we all smoked inside and everything turned brown and yellow.

Men were wearing Leisure Suits in those same colors. It was a swingin' time man.

I think we had that exact console TVs, or one damn close to it. It was the first color TV my parents bought and we had the aluminum antennae on a pole outside that had to be turned when tuning into different stations.

Very true. I personally can’t stand the new “all white” kitchens today. Floors, counters, cabinets, walls, etc. looks like an operating room. Or barn doors…most un-functional “door” since the bead curtain.

That’s certainly a challenge for the eyes… and i can almost smell the cigarette smoke. Every room that looked like this in the 70’s smelled like day old cigarettes.

If you want a throwback look up images of the Ebony Corporate Offices in Chicago. 70’s style in all of its glory.

Dad put up one of those 40' towers with the antenna on top.
Hurricane Betsy (1965) and came along twisted all of it into a big mess in the backyard. Those supporting wires didn't have a chance in the world of keeping that thing upright in those winds.

I've seen it happen over and over again. Everyone has to have the latest trend in their homes.

And by the way, that beautiful kitchen that you just finished a remodel on, that looks like a picture from a magazine will be considered ugly as hell in 20 years

We built our house in 2000. White appliances, white cabinets, green marble counters, pale mint green walls (same color as the rest of the first floor). No island.

We had to replace the dishwasher a few years ago and could only get one in stainless steel, which continues to irk my wife.

Our young twenty-something daughters (one of which wasn't even born when we built the house) now decry the look of the kitchen. They are always trying to get us to renovate/replace, and refer to our traditional white refrigerator as the "ghetto fridge"...

The 1970s were an abysmal period in American style and durability.
In before "but much stuff breaks so easily now" which is totally bullshite.

Every single aspect of modern design and function is better than 50 years ago. Counters that don't age and crack. LEDs inside of ovens and fridges instead of shitty light bulbs breaking/burning/going out. Undermounted sinks.etc.

Maybe if you’re willing to pay top dollar for the good stuff. Low to mid tier appliances are garbage these days for the most part.

Appliances are absolute shite now. I guess maybe someone makes a 11k fridge that's well made but it probably still has a bunch of unnecessary electronics.

You should consider yourself lucky to get 10 years out of just about any modern appliance.
