You're being quite obtuse about this, & seem to be making an irrational emotional response. Here's some quick facts via google:

I don't need stats to understand that wearing pads and a helmet during 90+ degree temperatures is a stupid fricking idea.

It's common sense.

All I remember was wanting to be in the middle because if you slacked on the end everyone knew

The sled was alright. It was the ten 50 yard wind sprints at the end of practice that killed me. God I hated that.

They probably aren’t in full pads retard. Just helmets and maybe shoulder pads

That's fair, if you're making an argument concerning making players more comfortable. You lashed out based on one death; my point is that you can't make a rash decision & massive reforms based on one death.

Your stats showed that it's not just one death.

Oh, my mistake - 3 from a heat stroke. You based your response on 1 heat stroke related death.

That's great. I bet you can find the stats on other high school/college sports deaths.

With football being the highest participated sport, go ahead and tell me how many years it takes for other sports to equal the deaths football has.

If you're ok with kids dying, because their sport is played at a shitty time, that's you. Not me.

Man this is terrible news. I feel for that family and team.

We used to practice over the summer and it was awful, but it was conditioning and drills, with weights. Sometimes we would use helmets and shoulder pads but not every day. We didn’t get full pads until right before school started. I would have a hard time doing all summer in pads.

Clean, if I’m not mistaken aren’t all high school head coaches hooked up to an app that alerts them when they have to stop a practice or game due to the heat or weather?

I know my sons baseball coach ended practice early one day this spring bc he got an alert that it was too hot.

Correct.
This was likely
A. Summer weights +/- conditioning
B. 7v7 practice (no pads. Just skills guys + a center (if even that. Often it's the other TE or worst skill guy in the set to snap).

Lafayette Parish was 1 of the LAST in the state to install A/C in all of their gymnasiums on HS campuses. Lafayette High has only had A/C in the boys gym since about 2017/2018. That's typically the 2nd or 3rd largest HS in the state, mind you...

The other team was going to want water in the 4th quarter. We learned to do without.

We got t go t the fountain by the gym from the practice field about 200 yards away. That was the longest 200 yards ever.

It wasn't enough

They would gives us salt tablets too
