The list is based on the schools' "silence quotient" because "silence is violence."

I would go to Berkeley at least once a week when I lived in Oakland, this included Cal football games and also eating at the various establishments on Telegraph at least once a week. I’ve been on the Berkeley campus at least 1,000 times over a 27-year period.
The real danger is the south of campus area nearby, including People’s Park. There were lots of muggings and strong-arm robberies at night in that area. I’m not sure if the area adjacent to UC was included in the data, but the Berkeley campus didn’t seem to be particularly dangerous.

List is absolutely stupid. College Station may be weird as an uncle in law, but it’s 120,000 people — half of that students and professors and staff. It’s 10 percent black and has very random crimes. Number one? I’d be happy to send my grandkids there as opposed to LSU, where you can now get shot up on Brightside.
Utah?
I think whoever did this piece is working for some BLM organization. Southern for instance and even LSU not on this list is insane.
Indiana? Did the campus move to Gary?
Grand Canyon? Isn’t that mainly an online school with a basketball team?

If Columbia, SC isn’t on this list it’s crap.

On the surface, this list makes no sense. Idk what criteria they are using.
It’s like they just put the names of 50 or so colleges in a hat and numbered the first 20 by the order they were pulled out and said ‘That’s it!’

Campuses I know are much less safe than most on this list:
Southern
LSU
Alabama
Jackson State
Cincinnati
Louisville
NYU
Arizona State
Yale

GCU has a huge online presence, but they have about 17K or more living on campus as well yearly. They are a good sized school, their basketball arena seats 7K.
And the campus is directly downtown west of I17 in pretty much the most ghetto area area of Glendale/Phoenix.

D1 only? Columbia is in Harlem, Penn in worst part of Philly, Brown in Providence, Yale in New Haven..

I would imagine the actually least safe schools would be the lousy inner city one's like Lehman in the Bronx, LIU in a bad part of Brooklyn, UIC in a badish part of Chicago, maybe Temple? How safe are Tulane and Loyola?

What a trash list. College Station is one of the safest campuses in the country.
