This thread, that I agree with wholeheartedly, has lasted longer than I expected

Fantastic thread. I can't say why, but I love Art Deco. I think that's part of what makes it great, it's a little undefinable. Like trying to explain why you like your favorite song.
Which reminds me of a quote (attributed to many, I was surprised that most point to Martin Mull): "Talking about music is like dancing about architecture".

Not sure about different architecture styles but my great x3 grandfather built this hotel in a small town in south texas in the early 1900s (20s maybe?)
It has been abandoned for a while and not sure who owns it now.
I doubt anything this cool has been built in most small towns in the last 40 years.
Some more buildings in town

That PJW video was good.
It is sad how modern architecture is. San Antonio has long been similar to new Orleans with the old French and Spanish architecture but I have a feeling in the future as the city grows they are going to make downtown look a lot uglier.

Here’s some better pics of the hotel

Why do I get the feeling you don’t care that this is a direct contradiction of the thread’s premise?

Lake Vista has an art deco shopping center in the middle of it.
That picture makes me very nostalgic. Lake Vista was such a great place, at least it was when I was little. Feels like it's full of ghosts when I go back now.
