Actually a civics test, which most of the public would fail.

If you can't pass a basic civics test, you're an idiot.

All that needs to occur is allowing local votes to nullify state laws in their city. Autonomy and a hedge vs mob rule.

Ruston and NO don't have the same values.

That has absolutely nothing to do with what I said.

you: cities have too much power and we need to redraw political lines to account for that

also you: i am fine with the majority of people choosing what they want

He's talking about the absurdity of majority rule in a land of 350m+ people vs. majority rule of localities

hence the entire point of this thread

I don't think Roger wants to dominate the conduct and lives of people in urban areas, he wants them to govern themselves and leave he and his community alone.

What is the line for an "overwhelming majority"? 70%? 90%? 99%?

This is a good question. Where do you draw the line?
I live in a rural Oklahoma county, 70 miles from any city. The 2020 presidential election was 65/35, Trump/Biden.
Is that close enough?

I don't own land now. But, pay a lot in taxes. I think only taxpayers should vote. I understand your sentiment though.
You need to be more specific. Income taxpayers!! Only people that actually PAY taxes! No earned income credit, no one that relies on the taxpayer, no one that gets a "refund" that is more than they actually paid! Half of our population pays ZERO income tax, yet they have the same say. No skin in the game, no vote.

You sound like a monarchist.

How does King George's arse thus taste?

Agreed, full ownership. People paying a note dont really "own" their property, they have an ownership interest and no title.

I’ve been renting for 5 years and I totally agree with you. Home ownership should be a voting requirement. That will never happen though.

Gotta ask Roger. My guess is since the majority were on the side he supports, yes.

Too much power over other areas in the state, Gomer Pyle. Your illiteracy is not uncommon in California.

Reddit is much more your speed.

Sales tax would have to end if we went to land ownership only getting a vote. Wouldn't you agree?
