Thanks. It’s mostly worthless land that only grows property tax bills. But it’s been in my wife’s family for over 100 years. And the idea of her and her Uber liberal sister having ones of the top voting blocks in Texas makes me lol hard.

No. We need to raise the voting age to 25. Let people live a little before deciding on who to vote for and make people take some type of test to see if they can think logically or if they are easily influenced.

If so they don't get to vote.

There’s also nothing stopping land-owners from voting to enshrine policies that lock in their own gains and lock out others from entering the land owning class…

Yeah, but taxation without representation would just mean they carry all the tax burden.

It's pretty much guaranteeing government controlled everything. Because the tax burden would become so immense.

People should have a government that reflects the population. One city owning the politics of an entire state is pathetic. Its time to redraw some political lines.

True but this can abused with mob rule bc many don’t care about the constitution and god given rights that can’t be infringed.

Do income, sales, excise, duties, and entitlement taxes not exist in your mind?

Property taxes are not the only form of taxation, and plenty of people inherit land and wealth and have little productivity they can show that they have contributed.

This argument is crap and doesn’t hold up to the most basic scrutiny.

Not for those who don't vote.

Unless you are King George.

Communities should have their own standards. Pitting large urban areas against vast agricultural areas leads to nothing but hatred and abuse..

A nation of 360 million can't be adequately governed by one government and two parties. Division of power seems to be favoring the feds, need more on a local level.

I'm just here seeing who wants to spit on the ideals America was formed on.

Got a few for sure.

It has also led people to promote and accept unworkable solutions for lack of real alternative.

I'd absolutely support pro-family social policy like paid maternity leave if it was created by people like us for people like us on terms that made sense to our communities.

Yep. I wouldn't care if a local community was damn near socialist, as long as that's what the overwhelming majority want, and it isn't forced on others and it was self sustaining.

What is the line for an "overwhelming majority"? 70%? 90%? 99%?

during covid i daresay a majority of the population of cities supported rounding unvaccinated up and putting them in camps

sWhen it comes to voting, who should and shouldn't etc. a basic IQ test would do wonders.
