He said the majority of Oregon voted with Portland which makes up 60% of the state. If they voted 70-30 progtard that’s still less than state majority. And yes I’m assuming the rest of the state is overwhelmingly conservative.

Oh, and gfy

We should go back to only land owners having votes. Would significantly reduce the power of large cities

10000%. Non land owners voting is the 2nd biggest mistake this country has ever made.

Do you even sales tax, bro?

Consumption tax is the the opposite of income tax. One is a tax on consuming, the other is a tax on producing.

Id say it does speak for the majority of the state

So they should have the power to force people on the other side of the state fund the city's desires? That's pretty fricked up line of thinking.

How about Portland fund Portland? And if they can't they don't deserve the power to force others.

Blue states should offer incentives to let the red states go seeing that their whole response to red states and federal funding is they are needy.

It would quickly devolve back to the economies just before the civil war where the South dominated the North.

It’s big cities vs rural areas.
The issue is that people in big cities think they can just roll out and pillage the rural people. Won’t happen.

Eh, hippies are always winning.
I haven't seen a Hippie since 1976. So explain how they can be winning when they're extinct.

The whole Hippie scene was about peace, love, and tranquility outside of the the cultural norms and the standards. It was communal living, not just with each other, but with the natural world too.

They'd be antithetical to the cell phones, tablets, and other electronic standards of today. Still wanting to chew on nuts and berries far from pre-packaged mass produced fast foods and chain restaurants as possible. They definitely would not be into rap and the Eurobeat synthetic music of today too.

The world progresses and those who stay behind are left behind.

And that^ is what became of the hippies. They "faded away" because they got left in the dust of progress. The end of the Gold Standard was pretty much marked the end of the hippies. That was the acceleration point for social change in America especially. With the more readily available economic means, culture shifted into a higher gear and changes occur more rapidly ever since.

Like how the South was able to produce food much better than the north as well as textile goods.

We're on even footing now with mechanization as opposed to forced human servitude.

nothing about the South is on even footing with the rest of the country. Pull up any statistic. The South is the armpit of America and just about every meaningful statistic and metric confirms that.

But we only like those statistics when they’re helpful to our narrative.

We don't need no government... We need a 6 lane interstate, paved roads 10 miles long to 2 houses, and government mandated services to keep insurance low.

There is no significant contingent of “conservatives” that says the building of highways is not in the government’s purview.
Not many people would claim it makes sense to build a long paved road at public expense for a couple of homes.
And the insurance comment is puzzling to me. In general, I would guess that most conservatives think the insurance industry is over-regulated.

So who are you making fun of?

What do you mean by the South?

Also, I’d like to hear your hypothesis as to why the Deep South is last in everything.
