Amazon Prime yearly renewal

When did the price jump to 130.25? Which is what I was charged. I thought it was 120 after they gave all the poor people free access.
Maybe I should start complaining I don't get 2 day shipping and instead it takes 3-5 days.

Clark Howard was on this morning saying that Amazon is going back to its value based platform which it abandoned three years ago after going to a service focused metric that cost them a large market share that hey want back which means price wars!

It was $79 and didn’t have video. Adjusted for inflation, it would be $104 today. So it’s basically been increased $26.

I will not renew when my Prime is up for renewal. I am finding items cheaper than Prime on a consistent basis and amazon shipping has been pretty slow lately if you get it at all. They have some work to do.

I don't order enough stuff from Amazon for this to make financial sense anymore, I'll probably cancel even though it's the only video streaming service I have. Still plenty of free shite online to watch.

I am a big Amazon supporter mainly because I live in the boonies and it is easier to get the stuff I need from Amazon.
With that said, their prices are far far from being close to Walmart on grocery items and all the other random stuff can be had from ebay. If I have to get if from Amazon, I am not getting most stuff as fast as in the past so Prime shipping is not serving me well.
I don't stream movies so don't care about that. I do have a crap ton of pics stored on their site but the good ones have been printed and I could host on other sites.
If they jack the price up to 135 and continue giving the poors a much cheaper price, I think I may leave. Getting tired of subsiding others.

This is also true with corporate taxes, raising wages, and every other expenditure. Consumers cover the increases. True for all businesses.

The yearly subscription itself is still $119, but I noticed when mine renewed in January that they now charge tax on it. Actual cost was around $130.

Yeah, I understand the gripe about welfare, but they’ve been offering the same discount to students for years.
It’s gone up a total of $51 a year ($4.25 a month) while adding a ton of new services since launching. When you consider inflation, it’s really only gone up the $26 I mentioned earlier which is just over $2 a month. When it launched it was 2 day shipping. Now I can get next day or even same day on certain items in non pandemic times. Now I can stream movies and tv shows or listen to music.
I don’t understand those complaints unless you think a service should stay the same price regardless of inflation or additional services added/improved.

No, it was $79. If you paid $50, you got some promo or student rate.
