the last three orders i have made with amazon were all prime orders. all three orders took at least 5 days for me to receive item(s). the problem wasn't the actual shipping once it was shipped. the problem is that my order didn't ship until the 3rd or 4th day after ordering.

is this the new norm now for amazon?

i don't listen to amazon music and i rarely watch amazon movies or shows, except for jack ryan.

other than that, what am i missing here to stay? amazon now charges sales tax. is there a better alternative somewhere else?

FYI - WalMart and Target offer free shipping for orders over $35.

On top of all that, it seems like their product catalog is getting REALLY watered down with Chinese knockoffs and bullshite replicas

For me it is. Free shipping is more common than it used to be, but not as common as you'd think. Especially if you're not reaching a minimum.

I order 1-2 random items from Amazon every other day probably, which would be a lot in shipping if I ordered them elsewhere.

The 2-day shipping was never the thing for me. It was just the free shipping I cared about.

to be fair to amazon, they are great with returns. money is usually refunded within a day or two before the item is even received back to their warehouse.

how is walmart and target for returns online?

Yep. I've been pretty leery of buying things from Amazon unless it's from an official store or something like that.

There's a walmart 2 miles from here. Order online, and you can either have it brought to your car or use the fancy-schmancy kiosk and you are in and out in a couple minutes.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still an Amazon user, but curbside pickups have gotten pretty good. I went out the other day and just did pickups at rei, target, bed bath and beyond, etc... it was easy and same day.

Have about 100 orders so far this year, so for myself and family it is.

I've used it in the past 2 years for items where an online store I would have ordered from also had an Amazon "store". The item price was the same but I didn't have to pay for shipping. I agree that the original expedited free shipping gimmick they started with is gone now but it's still been free shipping for my cases.

We do this too.

WalMart has contracted with DoorDash to instantly deliver items. I ordered a vacuum cleaner and it was here in like 90 minutes.

Why do you need external validation for a decision you should be able to make yourself?

Part of the reason I love prime is because I buy stuff as I need it.

Bought a roll of butcher this morning paper for $23. Free shipping. Be here tomorrow.

20 minutes later realized my shears were getting rusty, so I bought a pair of those for $15. Free shipping on that also.

Kid was sick from school with allergies. I bought him a toy after lunch. $9. Free shipping.

Yes. It's not the value that it once was.

This would be clutch if the city I lived in wasn't a horrid nightmare to hop around in.

All I see when I read that is, "Oh god no, College Drive. Oh definite no, Siegen Lane"

Being in the store is only half the hassle for me. Dealing with the traffic and the parking lots are the other half.

Pretty much every major retailer will charge you sales tax.

If all you use it for is shipping, then probably not. Amazon is overloaded.

While frustrating, this seems to be very easily avoided with even a cursory glance at the reviews. Typically it will be a ton of reviews mentioning products that have nothing to do with what you’re purchasing.

I look at is as a yearly fee for free shipping without a purchase minimum and a mediocre streaming service.

worth it to me because I work less than 5 minutes from home, so running to the store for (insert random household item here) feels like a huge hassle. Just about every common household thing I have comes from amazon

fricking this. I wish I could have groceries delivered without having pay a fortune and half my order be fricked up.
