My former employer’s product line is hosted on AWS.

Retirement is good.

The bad actors, hackers, and ransomware gangs would love if you stayed on Windows 95.

Trust me...most IT people hate updates as bad as everyone else. Nothing I hate more than having to do server updates/patches at midnight on a weekend after I've worked all week.

We just have to stay up to date on everything to reduce the amount of cybersecurity incidents, protect confidential data, and prevent hackers from hitting multi-billion dollar companies with a large ransom....and most importantly so we keep our job.

I had to send out comms to our entire company this morning because we have 15 different 3rd party applications that aren't working due to the AWS outage. Its the last thing I wanted to do on a Monday morning when I already have tons of other sh*t on my plate to work on.

Anyone having issues with Delta? I see it’s part of the AWS outage

How are you supposed to get your boarding passes? I’ve never done it the old fashioned way

Are airports a shite show at the moment?

...and a lot of companies were perfectly content with staying on IBM Domino but since a lot to the people who created the programs that run on that platform have retired it has been a shite show trying to leave IBM.

Amazon is built on bubblegum and Scotch tape. One of their key leadership ideals is frugalness. IE being a cheap bastard.
