The current millages that go to EBRPSS that will be redirected to a St. George ISD will more than cover a new district.
I'll believe it when I see it. I would be very surprised if the proposed ISD had millage rates lower than Zachary and Central.

Aren't sheriff offices funded with state funds?
Funded by parish taxes, property and/or sales.
Also about 100 other sources but the above make up the majority

Yes, it’s alarming the way gangs are taking over the parish. We have a huge crime problem and it’s getting worse. It has nothing to do with SG and everything to do with our law enforcement agencies, our Mayor, our Sheriff, our DA, our judges and the people that enable these gangs to thrive in their neighborhoods.

Did you really think Louisiana politicians were not going to be corrupt all of a sudden and be there for the people?

I am also interested in what the plan was or still is for that that long and narrow meandering piece of StG that kind of follows the river up to creating a very small shared boundary with Central.
Apparently creating a shared border with Central allows St. George and Central the option to partner together for services should they so choose in the future.

I'd find that hard to believe. I'm not sure how much the split will affect us, but we are down the road from a StG fire department that services our neighborhood.
Accidentally posted twice so edited to address this one: Your fire district did not change. If you were in the City of Baton Rouge and being serviced by the St. George fire district you still will be. If you were in the City of St. George and being serviced by the St. George Fire District, congratulations - you are no longer also paying for BRFD that you were never getting.

Tell that to the family in U Club whose house burned down BRFD arrived on scene literally two minutes after St. George FD.

If the house still burned down, it sounds like paying for two fire departments didn't really help much.
They will still get that same level of service when they are only paying for one fire department.

Why anyone would want to be the first group of a city’s official leaders is bewildering. All the headaches. And I hope they do ask for a sales tax and I hope we the people vote no.
Versus the alternative? Broome has been in politics for a bit now.
BR “we want better!”
Same BR “oh wait, we have to do what?”

SG are already proposing a new 2% Sales Tax for Dec 7th election? (LINK ) Is this a new 2% tax on top of the taxes we already pay? Or will it replace existing taxes?
I dont care if a proposed tax on a ballot is:
Existing
Renewal
New
I treat them all the same by voting NO
