I plan on it. I plan on the humor angle.

You aren't impressing anyone in an obit. No one cares what you did for a living. All they want to know is how you died.

Seems to be an uptick in this lately. They should get some feedback before the final draft. Some are too vindictive; some too self-centered.

I’m guessing you’re an alter, if not you’re really sprinting out of the gate at record pace to becoming one of the weirdest, shittiest posters on here, congrats

Usually means they were pricks while alive so the obit is last ditch effort to make them look like decent humans

John Smith dropped dead today.
He was the leading salesman for the southeast region of blah company three years running before being promoted to director of sales where he landed many top accounts blah blah blah.

who gives a rats a$$?

And now he's dead, just like the janitor.

Funny but true observation.

How about he liked fishing with the grandkids and duck hunting with his black lab ?

I agree. More like what an obit should be like.

EDIT:

"John Smith was a prodigious poster at TD, wasting thousands of hours pounding away at keyboards instead of fishing with the grandkids and duck hunting with his black lab..."

I'm sorry for your great loss. may the Lord comfort and strengthen you and yours.

some people have impressive careers. sorry you're insecure about yours.

I'm an engineer.
I'm doing just fine.
I like how you assume that I'm not successful just because I don't think that money is the most important thing in life.

I hope that when I die that there are more meaningful things to put in my obituary than my accomplishments in engineering.
I'm not bucking for a promotion in the afterlife.
My obituary doesn't need to look like a resume.

engineers make good money but it's not an "impressive" career for the most part. can you not see how it's different for brain surgeons, ace fighter pilots, self-made business tycoons, etc.?

The example that I provided in the OP was a salesman.

Engineers > Salesman.
