I have sympathy. Money or not that has to be awful. And fires like that are terrifying.

It would also make me a massive hypocrite if I didn’t when I have no problem calling someone out who does the “who cares they’re just hillbillies” when shite happens here in Kentucky (Eastern Kentucky flooding, Mayfield tornados, etc).

I sympathize some but then I move on in about 3 minutes. Bad shite happens all over the world constantly. I take care of me and mine and plan accordingly. I got enough to do with that.

Well I’m a career firefighter so yes, I feel bad for them. I also feel bad for the firefighters there, bad environment to be in but they are some of the best.

I mean, they’re still people believe it or not with memories at those homes and personal belongings that were emotionally important to them that they’ll never get back. Kinda sad when people are being shitty about it.

You think you are evil, because u are feeling very sympathetic you have no idea what real evil is bro. They will lie cheat and steal with impunity and fight every widow over every nickel. There is even a bible curse just for them in leventicus

The price of building materials will skyrocket in the area due to supply and demand. The sad part is the celebrities have the money to pay for the materials to rebuild their mega mansions that use enough lumber to build 4-5 normal size houses. Leaving not much left for the normal folks to recover. Celebrities preach about waste, excess and conservation. But they’ll readily rebuild their 12000sq ft mega mansions and not bat an eye.
Free enterprise will find a way brah.

Folks will easily get the materials to rebuild.

In NOLA post-K, folks did and the NOLA metro area was much more overall impacted than LA is so far.

I understand that sentiment for sure, but he's given a lot of wealth away.

I feel the same way about Buffett, but he's given a lot as well.

I mean Billy Crystal and his wife bought a house in Pacific Palisades and had lived there since 1979 - and lost everything. sure they can recover, but all the family things for their kids, grand kids, photo's and the like are all gone.

as someone who had all of his childhood stuff go up in a house fire in Grand Bay AL, it sucks - art I did as a kid, baby photo's, all that history is just gone.

It’s not so much the actual house they’re losing, it’s all of the shite they have inside, they are human beings, just like us and have personal family heirlooms, old photographs of their kids and family, things that are very special to them that probably are sitting in a pile of ash right now

Not saying you should feel more or less sorry for them than you would for anybody else, but they are human

I’m struggling to empathize with Reiner, Streisand, Cher, Ruffalo and their ilk.

Simply put, IDGAS…

I mean, this happens all over the country/world. Doesn't make it a good thing, but this is not something unfamiliar, especially to people in the south and tornado alley

So you do think they deserve it.

ut people in Louisiana think about Californians because of monetary jealousy. Which I guess is understandable.

People everywhere think/see about California because its on TV every single day of everyone's lives.

Lets start there.

I guess its cool for you to sit here and think its apples to apples comparing a 4mm person state to a 56mm person state.

Thats like me saying you know what, I wonder what the frick is going on in Fiji this morning?

Its not money its morals. California gets all the press which means they get to push their ideology 24/7 from the politicians to the celebrities. Their lifestyle is shoved down everyone in the countries throat through mainstream media.

I completely agree - and I have the same amount of sympathy for anyone that has any kind of disaster happen to them.

everyone says "we need to come together and help each other out" and then something like the fires happen, and people's true colors come out.

if people would just look at it from a human standpoint and look beyond all the bullshite that makes them jaded to certain folks, things might actually get better

Yeah, personal feelings about him aside, trotting out a guy who has done more for the poorest people on the planet than anyone in history is an interesting way to make a point about rich people only caring about themselves

But what’s crazy about this thread is that we’re just talking about sympathy here. Like, that’s free. You kinda have to go out of your way not to have sympathy for someone you don’t even know whose house just burned down. It’s a douchey sentiment to have for sure.

I think there are some good people that unfortunately lost their homes! That being said, most of the Hollywood elites had stuff to say during the hurricanes this past year.. They voted for this, they are having to deal with the repercussions of their vote!

I’ve relocated to minimize risk and have housing redundancy.

“It’s a sorry rat that has only one hole to run to”

I’m a stronger person having gone through those events.

Other than the memorabilia, it’s all just “stuff”. And they’re making more new stuff today I can buy to replace my ruined stuff.
