Am I the a-hole in this situation?

Yesterday, when I got off work, I went to a local flower shop to look for a basket for Mother’s Day. They didn’t really have anything I liked, and I wanted to customize it with some things that they didn’t have.
One of the attendants told me that I could go to another store and buy whatever items I’d like and they would charge a small fee to make a basket out of that. That sounded like a better idea, plus I could customize it with whatever I wanted. She said just pick the items up and come back tomorrow morning and we will wrap it up for you.
So this morning, I go out and buy all the things I want them to make a basket out of. The attendant from yesterday wasn’t there, but instead there’s an old man and a middle-aged woman. I brought the items in and explained what the other lady had told me yesterday, before I could finish the old man says “so you’re just going to buy stuff from other shops and we’re supposed to fix it up for you?” To which I replied “I mean, if you want the business. If not, I can always go somewhere else”
The old guy just huffed and walked to the back and the other lady fixed the basket nice and charged me the $10.00 fee. It’s a pretty common service at this place, and I’ve known other people to do the same thing. So am I the a-hole for bringing other items for them to make a basket out of?

Without reading that novella, I'd say yes.

I didn’t read, but did you accost random people on the street to tell them how much Louisiana sucks?

What would make you the a-hole in that situation?
Or did you just need an excuse to tell the CSB?

Ive done that before, and never had any issues. As long as you paid for the basket at the store that’s making the basket (because usually it’s pretty marked up for just a basket) then it’s not an issue. Sometimes they’ll charge a couple bucks for the wrapping too.

They told you to do it. You’re probably an a-hole, but not for thisnin particular.

Nah, I think the old man was the a-hole.

The old man thought you wanted “The Special” which entails pegging.
His libido just isn’t what it once was.

That’s a novella to you?
I’m sorry “The Cat in the Hat” was so difficult for you.

I would've straight walked out of the store.

That’s why business owners should always be around. Old man river doesn’t care if you buy from them or not. He gets paid by the hour, not by how many flowers he sells (or doesn’t sell)
Either way those flowers seem racist.

Went to walmarks years back with a friend to buy some plastic wear for a reunion gumbo. No spoons. My buddy finds a attendant heading for her smoke break and ask if she could see if there were any plastic spoons in the back. She says she'll check. He waits while I go get the other crap for the gumbo. I come back and he's still waiting on the girl with the spoons. I said she aint coming back, you got punked. On to which he denies and says she's coming back. We wait another 5 minutes all the while I'm telling his dumbass she aint coming back with the damn spoons. She's sitting in the smoke room puffing a butt and drinking a coke. He swore to me she's coming back lol.

Why didn’t you tell him that the chick who was there yesterday told you to do precisely what you were doing?
The only thing that makes you an a-hole is the subtle “I love my mom” brag.

Old baw did wrong. He should have poured you a cup of coffee while you waited on mee maw to fix your basket. This would insure your return business.
The only reason you want to go back now is to knuckle check him. It didn't have to be that way.

Exactly. It was my first experience with this place. They had an opportunity to earn repeated business from me but instead they’ve now lost my business forever.

Should have driven through the valley. They have some real nice baskets in a front yard

Nah, it had a lot of illustrations....
You folks need to lighten up.

No. You’re not an a-hole for bringing the other time.
But sounds like you were disrespectful in the way you talked to the older gentleman.
