Sounds like you have a nice lunch tomorrow.

My dad used to be this way when we had dinner reservations. He’s a real piece of work at restaurants and likes to be treated like a VIP everywhere he goes. We’d be on vacation and if someone went to the kitchen to fix a snack he’d get all twisted and say loudly something like we have dinner in a little bit, or don’t ruin your appetite, or can’t you wait until we go to dinner. I guess he was like the OP and tired of his daughters eating before we went and not finishing their dinner. It was never a problem with me, but it did get old when he’d try to tell my sisters or my wife. It would always be some fancy restaurant and take an hour to get your food by the time they did drink orders, apps, soup/salad.

Why does it matter if she has a little snack?

Poor girl.

said “don’t eat…we’re going to dinner soon”. Wife is mad and tells me “you don’t tell a teenage girl anything about eating. It’s ok if she has a snack.”

Respond with “just don’t want her to gain weight like her mom”

Tell her if she eats too much, stepdaughter will get stuck in the pantry. And you know where that will lead..

Your stepdaughter and/or wife might have an insecurity about eating or weight, so it might make sense to approach the subject with an understanding that there is more to the situation than your pragmatic approach toward not wasting food at dinner.

She’s all about a high protein/high fat diet to support her sports.

I am curious what sports require a high fat diet. I am aware of some ultra-endurance athletes going high-fat to train their body to use fat as fuel more frequently, but I don't know anyone personally who has made it work. For most sports the amount and timing of carbs and protein are the main issues for most athletes.

You’re responding to a middle aged dude who started buying generic workout plans for 30 bucks a pop a year ago and now thinks he’s an expert because he can bench 205 at 190lbs.

Put another way, don’t bother

This is what I do with my daughter. She always says she starving, and then won’t hardly eat anything.

You’ve forgotten one of the fundamental truths of marriage.

You can be happy

Or you can be right

Choose wisely.

It’s a joke, a very old one in fact, not a dick. Don’t take it so hard.

I do understand that you don’t get marriage humor though because no woman wants to marry a munchkin with anger issues.
