Ask yourself this…is this 80 yo dude sitting in senior care with Alzheimer’s an actual threat to your position in her life? They’re valid, but you need to work through them, not go off on her for telling you about her day.
Maybe tell her later after you regain your composure that you felt some kind of way when she was telling you about Old Man Methuselah. But when you do, make it clear that what you feel is about you. Because it is. She’ll respect that more than the way you approached it.

I don't. I simply wanted to be appreciated for the things I did. Not once did she ever say "Thank you." Not when I repinned the lock in the door on the back of the house after she lost the key. Not when I washed a sink full of dishes because she says her daughter never will because she has babied her daughter and the daughter thinks it is beneath her.
