Nice gesture. Hopefully she has a free babysitter because if not I doubt even working 40 hrs/week at $12+ will improve her situation.

Excellent outcome. The fact that she was waiting at his office the next morning leads me to believe she is legit. If she was a scammer or just looking for an easy way out, she'd have taken your money and had no interest in getting a job. Hope it all works out and glad you listened to your gut.

Just ignore them. The people who post that stuff on a message board would never say those things in person. Some people use a message board to lash out because they are pissed off at the world. It makes them feel better, but just ignore it.
While people will say you are "bragging", sometimes I think stories like this need to be told.. If anything it might inspire others to do something similar.
