Was she going westbound on Government? If so - where was she going at 2am? Does she live downtown or something?

Or was she trying to lose someone that was following her?

Sounds to me and I’m probably wrong…

She met up with friends at one of the said locations.

She left. She was going a certain way and the train blocked that route. Some shite bird was lurking because he knew a train would be a great opportunity to make an assault and robbery/stolen car. She made the U turn to head towards a new route back. By that point it was too late as whoever it was planned on robbing her regardless.

Or does this sound somewhat sufficiently accurate?

With the police still not having any leads, I have a sinking feeling this one will go unsolved.

Unfortunately this is another homicide count for BR this year as innocent citizens continue to get caught in the mess of BR. This location is so close to an area of population with no morals and nothing to lose. When you have nothing to lose you do whatever you want. I feel terrible for the family as this should of never happened. The value of human life means nothing to some.

I worked homicides for 3 years in BR and never had a case where that was what happened. Sure, there are gang related homicides, but not initiation. However, I will say that it can’t be ruled out in this case.

There is something people aren’t saying on this one. Maybe a mistaken identity.

The car jacking theory is a stretch to me. 2am right there on Government is extremely low traffic. You’d be waiting a while for a car to jack…and most car jackings occur when the victim is getting into or out of their car.

The randomness is what is drawing so many people to this. Despite what some believe, random acts of violent crime where nothing was stolen does happen, but it’s extremely rare. Theft is usually the underlying motivation.

So what was going on here? Was she leaving work at The Shed? Where was she going? Was someone following her? Did she have something of value on her that isn’t being shared? Why was nothing apparently stolen?

Sounds plausible. But why not take the car or whatever they were trying to steal?

That is what confuses the hell out of me.

It’s right down the road from Radio Bar and various locations like that which close at 2 am

It’s not a stretch to say a car jacker was waiting on people leaving as the bars close

It could have also been a drunk she may have accidentally cut off or something…in that area there are a bunch of violent types that would snap if that occurred

It could have been a targeted hate crime - someone followed her out of a bar

It could have been a jilted lover or stalker who followed her

Or a serial killer…or gang initiation

At the end of the day we don’t know, but statistically car jacking, road rage, lover/stalker, or hate crime is your most likely candidates

It was on the same block as a bar that just closed. Seems like the perfect place to wait to carjack someone. Hell a good amount of the people driving are probably also intoxicated. Seems like easy pickings to me.

Maybe. But why not get people outside the bar or follow them home and surprise them when they can’t drive away? Also they didn’t steal her car.

Maybe they saw someone on the other side of the train and got spooked and left?

I know it doesn’t make sense…but if this turns out to be some hood rat that killed someone over a car that they didn’t even take, it’s going to make me even more angry.

A few car break in and purse snatchings have happened in that parking lot - it’s a shame those thugs took it to the ultimate level

There have been random shootings on streets and highways in the New Orleans area. Could that have moved up to Baton Rouge?

This just seems so random. It doesn’t make sense. And people are going to continue to freak out until the cops share what they know or make an arrest.

It could easily be a combo crime

A targeted car jacking and then she locked the car and wouldn’t comply and then it turned into a hate crime

Or a road rage turned into a hate crime. It may not be one or the other, but both*

*although all violence is a hate crime - I hate that term

It’s possible something was stolen and they’re saying nothing was. That way when it’s pawned off somewhere by the unsuspecting killer, boom. Big suspect.

What we need is massive public pressure on the mayor and police department. MASSIVE public pressure.

As pointed out earlier in this thread, after bringing attention to themselves by emptying their gun into the car, they’re running away asap. And they’re sure as hell not going to take the time to remove a dead body from the car and flee in the car after it has obvious bullet holes in the glass and probably blood splattered all over the inside.

That’s not happening, period.

good point. One thing that needs to be checked out was if she was, by chance OR routine, carrying deposits from The Shed.

It is possible that someone just happened to spot her with a bank bag OR had been monitoring it. Not likely, but possible. Lot of "ifs" that are unknown however.
