Stand Your Ground and Self Defense are two different legal ideas.
The population doesn’t understand this because the media butchered it during the Zimmerman case.
This distinction isn’t even relevant here tho. Neither apply to the aggressor/initiator especially when they went way out of their way to put themselves in that position. There was no threat to their person, up until they were pulling guns and shooting at a jogger, when the jogger tried to defend himself. .
.
ETA how may self defenses/stand your grounds involve actively following someone that you intend to confront, parking your truck in the middle of the road, getting out, and waiting for them to jog up to you?

Even if there is "more to the story", these punk rednecks are a disgrace.
May they rot in hell.

This is actually worth protesting over — senseless loss of life.

1. We dont see what happens right before the first shot
2. He WAS trying to take the gun from him. Whether you like it or not that did happen but it was after the first shot heard IMO. Dont see why you would try to take a gun from him when the other guy is just gonna shoot again. Which is what happened
3. They still fricked because they created this encounter.
Something may have happened before all this but we dont know. This what I see from the video.

Bruh some people aren’t even on this planet.
They think the victim “just ran up And attacked a guy with a gun”. Yea he just decided to attack a man who Was chasing him in a truck, parked truck in the middle of the road and got out with a shotgun, with a baw in the truckbed wielding a gun...and decided he’d just attack.

I doubt any of us know how we would react to 2 dudes with guns coming at us
His reaction could have been to take the guys gun to defend himself from the other guy

Yurintroubl,
You asked lots of questions. The first thing we should all do, but is rarely done.
Then you say, “...nothing justifies what happened to the victim.”

Protesting achieves nothing.

Yes, He tried to take the gun from someone. Someone that had just shot at him and was apparently trying to kill him. You dont see why someone would try to take the gun from someone trying to shoot them? I certainly would try to take a shotgun away from someone trying to shoot me Point blank. You seem to imply he should’ve just let the ole baw blast him instead.
They parked in the middle of the road, were armed, and got out of the truck to confront the runner, while there was another baw in the truck bed with a gun. That’s a pretty offense oriented tactic. I just dont see any legitimate defense for the two involved in the killing.

I doubt he even had a 2 step plan like that. It was probably more like “I’d rather not let this guy blast me away point blank, better defend myself” no way he was like I will disarm this honkey then blast the truckbed gunner. Things happened faster than all that. He was just trying to not get blasted.

It's so stupid that it probably didn't happen at all.

We do see the guy jogging run around the opposite side of the car from the guy with the shotgun, and the first shot is before the jogger gets close to the shooter.

Dunno. If someone pulled a gun on me/you and had fired a shot already...I don't find it odd to try to grab the gun instead of just waiting for him to fire again and hit you this time.
The jogger is fighting hard enough, I assume he wasn't seriously wounded until the final shot, where he just pulls away and drops.
Finally, I don't understand criticizing the decisionmaking of the unarmed guy who had guys with guns wait on him in a pickup, then point a shotgun at him and fire it before any struggle. The jogger was probably just ****ing his pants and reacting.

You mean after a shot was fired at him either by that gun or the gun in possession of the man in the truck bed? It’s almost like he has a right to defend himself.

I’m struggling to come to any scenario where any reasonable person could find this justified.
