I don't see Arbery carrying a fishing rod in the video, so I'll go with either he didn't do it or the homeowner is talking about a prior incident.
What did he do, keister $2,500 worth of fishing equipment when he saw the shotgun fellas rolling up on him?
There's no evidence Arbery did anything beyond look into a house under construction that day. You can't tell me anyone would consider that a crime under normal circumstances. It only gets floated as a crime if you're trying to excuse shooting him.

I'm going to disagree with this. I can offer at least one theory about why the video wasn't released previously, and it has to do with what the video shows vs what the first DA decided.

I saw an article where his mom is quoted as saying she viewed the footage of him looking into the house and believes it was her son.
So, I was going with that. The bigger point for me is there's a 0% chance anyone thinks that what's described on the construction site video is a crime absent the shooting, let alone a crime that justifies random citizens chasing him down with shotguns.

You're speculation about why the police report says what it says and why the police didn't tell the mother the truth of what happened isn't based on facts. Unless you have a different idea of what a fact is.

I’m sorry, I’m not going to crucify cops for going on the only information they had when making the “mam, your son has been in an accident” call/visit.
You can argue the fact that they didn’t follow up with more details after the initial call/visit, but I don’t know the police procedures for disclosing info about an active investigation.
