Sushi Masa seems like it is always packed when I drive down Essen. Not buffet, but they have AYCE.

Been maybe 3 times over the years around lunch hour and it was always solid.

When I was a kid … in the summer I’d probably go here with my mom once a week. It was awesome!

Texas used to have Lubys, it was the best buffet imo. We used to eat there on hunting trips. Chicken fried steak was to die for.

There are all you can eat sushi restaurants that are not buffet style. Food is made to order.

Sushi Masa in Baton Rouge is one of those places.

Showing my age, back in the 70's and early 80's there was a Pancho's Mexican Buffet on Nicholson. It was my introduction to Mexican food and margarita's.

Sunday, my wife and I wanted to eat somewhere different. I like spontaneity. We were in a town an hour away from our home, so different enough.

We had meat and 3 type place on the brain. First place we pulled in was closed on Sunday and PlanB had a long wait from the church crowd.

I was scrambling, googling while driving and found another place fairly close by. We pulled up and there wasn't that many cars so we knew there wouldn't be a wait.

We happened on a soul food Sunday buffet. This was the best tasting food I've eaten in a long time. We definitely added a spot in our rotation. I'll happily drive an hour to eat there again.

Buffets are a convenient way to feed a bunch of people who all want different things.

Buffets are great when you’re really hungry, or when you want to try a lot of different dishes.

Buffets are basically the fastest lunch option to eat away from home/work, as you just walk in, fill your plate, pay, and leave.

The buffets that allow you to fill a to-go box and charge by weight are awesome. Super convenient takeout option that’s often very affordable, especially when you don’t want a ton of food.

It’s an absolute tragedy how few true ayce buffet restaurants survived the covid pandemic. A lot of my favorite restaurants that did survive abandoned their buffets entirely. I miss them dearly.

Picadilly isn't a buffet - its a cafeteria. Presumably the people handling the food have washed their hands at some point in the last few hours....not so with a buffet.

My 85 year old father LOVES a Chinese Buffet. Does not matter where it is are what quality the food is. He was lamenting the lack of them in our area just a few days ago. They were on every corner in our part of the world prior to COVID. Almost none exist now in our area. I have to admit, I enjoyed a good one myself....perfect hangover food.....

Buffets are nasty though. They are good for building your immune system but folks are some nasty bastards.

I can't really eat enough to get my money's worth at an all you can eat place. Now that I am old, being overly full feels worse than it did when I was younger.

My kids love sushi masa and you don’t have to get very much nigiri to make the $15.95 you pay for lunch worth it.

Buffets and Carnival Cruise Lines cater to the same clientele and it’s not me.

I’m sure some buffets are good, like Piccadilly.

I haven’t stepped foot in a Piccadilly in over 35 years (my Grand Dad loved that place, so I took him there once or twice a month) but I never knew of one being a buffet. It’s a cafeteria.

You sound like one of the miserable whiners here who gripe about everything from cruises to Disneyworld.

When I was in undergrad my dad sometimes worked in BR and we’d meet for lunch there. Good memories.
