Have you been around the good high school teams lately?
Yes

At the very highest level. Just like travel ball, most of the teams are just like theyve been forever

Most of my volunteering is done for people who don't have a lot. Last I checked, the country club wasn't needing volunteers... But your posts and your comments like this just make it clear that travel ball is more about who YOU want to associate yourself with, then the idea that it's all about the kids. The kids will play with whomever they are grouped with. You are the one who wants to spend your hard-earned money to buy friends to hang out with at the ballpark. I wonder how many frat boys end up being travel ball dads?
you are self righteous and full of shite. This is the way the game is played now. It has nothing to do with who you want to associate with. My kids had all walks of life parents on their teams. Do you say the same about your daughter in dance? Because they spend all kinds of money on lessons and travel. Same with cheer, for music competitions. AAU basketball is the same way.

Yep and most coaches are NOT looking for pure results. Going 4-4 with a bomb in some rec game with a shitty swing likely doesn't get any looks. They want to see you being able to do things the right way. Fundamentals and proper mechanics mean significantly more.

But the idea that it's really about the kids is a joke, and deserves to be mocked.
Totes agree - I guess my mocking game is off

Yes, all of those have been ruined by thousandaire helicopter parents.
Except AAU, that was ruined by schisters like 25 years ago

It's sad, you know how many dairy queen ice creams or pizzas my parents paid for for some kid that lived with his grandmother or parents just dropped him off with no interest in how he did or just in general? I had no idea at the time, but it probably made those kids life to go eat pizza and play arcade games after a baseball game.
Yup. And today, few parents are at rec ball games to take the kids out for ice cream or pizza. They are all taking the travel ball kids out for ice cream and pizza after losing both pool play games on Saturday, and after losing by 14 runs in the first bracket game on Sunday.
The gap widens.

now this is just dumb, give me the player that comes through when it counts instead of the practice all star

ut, if my kid wants to play baseball, I am going to set him up with the best opportunity to take it as far as he wants to. I won't be paying so that I can make friends. I will be paying because I want my son to have the best chance to be successful and I have means to do so.
And at 6U, that is a joke...

lol, you're just way out of touch. Not sure why anyone acknowledges your posts on the topic. I know I won't anymore. On another note, are you really in Brooklyn?

Yea I'm just paying for my kids friends that's it....meanwhile I'm getting dressed to actually go coach a rec practice.
Love all the sidelining judging not knowing what they are talking about.
And Mingo, you said yea the good high schools the level has increased....where so you think 90% of travel players that make it through 13-14 are going?
Plus you do realize in the lake charles area they had to combine all the 14u teams cause there were only 3 total in the whole area. All rec kids essentially quit after 12 now, hell 75% quit after 10 now. Kids don't play sports like they used too. Their are no kids to form a competitive league even if you brought all the travel kids back.

Yeah, ok. Good luck with that.

Im told you cant be good, not even Mike Trout, if you don't take lessons by 777, so which is it?
quote:Again, your trumped up drama filled thoughts are spilling out.
There's thousands of families all over the country going into fricking credit card debt to finance their 9 year olds baseball schedule
quote:And not one person has said it was, your drama queen style of debate is showing. You do argue like a woman.
. A kid that would have made it to the Major Leagues isn't going to not make it because he didn't go to the 9u World Series in Cooperstown.
quote:No, it kinda is the whole point.
You may have the money to pay for all this bullshite and not affect anything, and that's great
quote:and I explained to you that I only know one kid that plays travel that plays one sport...and quite frankly he is a good ball player but pretty slow so football, soccer is out. I do think he takes some music lessons though, so you dont have to rage.
Playing multiple sports through rec leagues worked just fine for ages. All this travel ball, AAU, AJGA rage has done has made helicopter parenting worse IN GERNERAL,
