What I found was sad was what wasn't in the obit: any accomplishments or impact on society, other than kids. I'm not trying to speak ill of the dead, but:
If this is what you think is going to get mentioned in your obituary above the age of 25, your life needs to be re-examined.

I wrote my obit a few years ago after a good friend of mine passed. I update it every year and keep it in my safe

It is sad when anyone dies with a few notable exceptions. I feel bad for the children who have lost their mom. May our Lord be with them.

I swear, that isn’t an insult or judgmental or anything, I just don’t believe there is anything after this, and I don’t believe there is a diety watching over us. And I think it would be comforting to believe otherwise.

It is my friend. It is immensely comforting to know that we fall asleep in this place and wake up to meet the One who gave us life. I pray that someday you will believe and I pray that God will bless you with every good thing.

I'm 65. People I used to work with when I was in my 20s are starting to die off.
There was one guy in particular, if I'd seen his obit, I would've gone to his funeral to make sure he was really dead.

The obits of black people can be pretty damned funny, if just for their nicknames. I saw two obits for the same guy, one obviously placed by the wife and family, the second by his side piece.

And here is the issue. You use “know” and “believe” interchangeably. They are not the same thing.
I respect your belief. I laugh at the fact that you “know” anything when it comes to the afterlife, because that’s impossible.
