Any recs? Is a travel agent the way to go....and where to? I hear a lot of people bring up Jamaica but the Virgin Islands sound great too.

I am a travel agent and I would definitely use a travel agent because they will know which destinations and resorts to recommend based on your requirements and wish list saving you a bunch of time searching. Individual travel agents are typically not more expensive than online travel agencies like Expedia - I'm almost always the same or less. . And if things go wrong or your have special requests they normally have contacts at the resorts that can fix problems and help honor requests. Lots of service that online booking sites can't match without paying extra.

Jamaica would probably be your cheapest option.

If money is not a factor I would go to somewhere like St. Thomas.

Jamaica is still fun though

Any kids?

If so, look at Beaches Ocho Rios

Took my family to DR. It was really nice. However wife got violently sick the day we left and spend time in the hospital. So will not be returning there.

Save the money, don't use any travel agent. Look up reviews of different all inclusive resorts and book one directly with the resort. It's that simple. The resorts will help you with fun things to do inside and outside the resort, that's how they market themselves. And all-inclusive resorts are literally the easiest trip to book, all you have to do is book your stay at the resort, and everything is included there. You don't have to worry about almost anything.

The only time I would use a travel agent is if I was doing a Europe (or other continent) trip and visiting multiple different countries, or POSSIBLY a Disney vacation bc there are so many things you can do at Disney, and almost all of it needs to be booked separately

EDIT: and most travel agents are just going to convince you to book with whoever pays them the most and/or gives them the most free vacations. I know bc my aunt is a travel agent and she has given us several free or significantly below price stays at very nice places by using her agent rewards

In all honesty I would not recommend Jamaica, recently went and while I enjoyed myself I will not return. Way better options out there.

If you are planning on just hanging around the pool and drinking it was OK, it just had a cruise ship atmosphere would be my best description, very scheduled.

Going into town was horrid, avoid Montego Bay it is a shitty tourist trap.

I did all you said and then went to a travel agent for comparison. The travel agent was the exact same price plus they gave me trip insurance. Plus, I didn't have to do much at all once I turned it over to them.

You need to get further south to better islands

It cracks me up when people lump all Caribbean islands into the same bucket. They are not all the same.

I just got finished looking for a honeymoon spot. Any all-inclusive's in the virgin islands are going to be at least twice as expensive as Jamaica or Mexico. For us it wasn't worth it, but for you it might be. Virgin Islands were our first choice.

I didn't do an all inclusive there, but St. Martin is the best place I have been.

I have also been to Jamaica and Aruba.
