My beloved Great Palmetto State is being overrun.
It's a damn shame.
It is and you are right. And it is being overrun by the worst the east coast has to offer...New Jersey and Ohio are not sending their best and brightest; they are sending the people who fouled their nests so badly they were no longer inhabitable OR those retirees with just enough money to make it halfway to South Florida. In the case of Aiken/North Augusta/Augusta and Greenville/Anderson/Greer you can't really blame them....the 5 of those in SC are FANTASTIC places to live and raise a family (Augusta is not...Columbia, Lincoln, McDuffie and Burke Counties are but Augusta has issues LOL). Those choosing the low country are a mystery to me....I just do not see it. Columbia and Florence are somewhere in the middle...I understand some of that....but Charleston???

We live in the sticks north of Greenville and it just doesn’t seem that big. Go into town multiple times a week. And Spartanburg is really part of the area, which would put it in second.
The entire up state is really a great place to live and raise a family....especially now with wages going up. It was always nice if you had a good job but good jobs are way more common today.
That extends all the way to Augusta and over to Commerce Georgia. The entire region is a fantastic place to live. It has been discovered though...but it has always had most of the conveniences of living in a large city with the feel and lifestyle of living in the country. I was in Hartwell recently and it has been transformed into a serious vacation type destination...I was shocked LOL. The entire area is really nice and always has been.

4) New Orleans-Metarie, LA (58th) - 972,165 -4.48%
5) Baton Rouge, LA (66th) - 873,661 +0.36%
They are much closer in size that I thought.

I didn’t know Houma, bayou cane, Thibodeaux was a MSA.
that one makes sense.
a shite ton of Houma-Thibodaux lives in one and works in the other.
I’m more shocked that Bayou Cane is listed separately. It’s literally surrounded by Houma and almost nobody refers to it as its own town. More like a part of Houma. Like Broadmoor or Summerfield, etc.

Atlanta and Athens are basically that way now honestly. Atlanta Metro stretches to Barrow County/Winder which is 30 minutes from Athens. And Barrow borders both Athens-Clarke and Oconee Counties which are Athens Metro.
And I give it 50 for the 85 corridor.
You're spot on....316 has basically tied everything from Hull to Carrolton into one massive metro-plex. The area between the west side of Athens to Lawrenceville is almost completely populated compared to what it was in 2005 say....Winder and Monroe would both be pretty good places to live...especially for young families.

That can’t be. Metro Atlanta is a 3rd world shithole according to Saints fans on this website
Why would so many people want to move to a 3rd world shithole?

I work in McDonough. (Technically Luella).
And speaking of growth, I was at West Forsyth High School yesterday. That county had 40,000 people in 1997, it now has 267,000
But for as much as it's grown, there are still some country elements up there. It's pretty.

Just 100% false . Go to an LSU football game in Green Bay or at the Rose Bowl or almost anywhere else outside the South, i 100% promise you i hear people all the time who live in Mandeville or Slidell say they are from New Orleans…. I mean, i get it, for convenience sake- but don’t claim it does not happen b/c it does and probably always will .
This isn’t 1990 anymore. Mandeville people as a whole do not treat it as a Nola suburb anymore

While i am not the biggest fan of Theo Von- i do like how he always refers to New York City as “the Jewish Atlanta .”

Should have included Florida panhandle all the way to Jax. It’s more of a demographic fit to the Deep South that to the rest of Florida.

I know my hometown of Augusta and the surrounding area has grown quite a lot in recent decades but I'm still a little surprised at it being in the top ten.
Cyber Command has been a HUGE boon to the CSRA. Grovetown, Harlem, Evans, Appling, Thompson....all are GREAT places to own real estate (Evans and Grovetown always has been....Fort Gordon kept real estate prices stable even during the housing collapse).
On the other side of the river the Augusta Medical Complex and the bomb plant (smaller now than it once was but still a LOT of HIGH paying jobs) has driven a lot of people into the area. Outside of downtown Augusta the CSRA is a great place to live and work. And I know its been predicted for years but losing the GreenJackets Stadium to North Augusta was a wake up call for Augusta....there is some movement to improve Augusta. It is going to take many years but Augusta itself is about to enjoy a major re-invention. There is too much low cost real estate in an area surrounded by booming population and wage growth for Augusta to continue its downward spiral.

Agreed, i know first hand that Mandeville is very, very different than it was 35 yrs ago.. but if you are trying to tell me that what i said in my post you quoted is wrong, and that people from Mandeville , when traveling or living outside of the American South or internationally - DONT say that they are from New Orleans ALL THE TIME.. then brother, I’m not sure what to tell you b/c you are misguided .

“Mandeville, it’s about 30 mins from New Orleans”
I 100% beleive that’s what the major majority from Mandeville would say

Mandeville people are very proud NOT to be from New Orleans. They aren’t going to claim it
