I was once rolling down I49 South of Shreveport with a friend, we wanted to stop for lunch and Alexandria seemed like a good spot. Called a relative that lived there, and asked where a good lunch spot was, after several minutes he gave up and said he could not think of one.

Grew up there and left when I graduated from high school. No plans to go back... even to visit.

How so? Take New Orleans out of Louisiana and you have a poor mans Mississippi

Idk maybe it's bc LA has world class saltwater fishing. Any outdoorsman would love to live in LA.

Pros:
Great zoo for that size town
Outdoor stuff galore. Hiking, biking, camping, hunting, fishing
Nice place to raise kids, decent school choices

Cons:
Bland or very little culture
No diversity - most white folks conservative church goers (not that there's anything wrong with that)
No uber
Night life lacking

All very true... id add that they have a couple decent golf courses and it isn't too far of a drive to one of three casinos if that is your thing (Marksville, Kinder, one in Grant Parish)

All very true, but places downtown like the Mirror Room at the Hotel Bentley and a deceivingly nice bar by the Coliseum called TopShelf (deceiving because it is attached to the back of a Chevron station, but has nice music, good selection of drinks, an ice bar and nice furniture and more of a grown up/wealthier crowd) are some pretty nice places to grab a drink. Dad and I went to TopShelf at Thanksgiving and it was a very fun place to go for a married man like myself. No rap music or kids dancing or making a bunch of noise.

Blatantly false...There is not only a quite sizeable African American community in Alexandria, but also an Hispanic, and Asian community as well.

Don't get me wrong... I'm not trying to white knight for Alexandria. Hell, there is a reason I moved away from that palce... but it isn't even CLOSE to the worst town in Louisiana.

You're right. Meant to say no diversity amongst white folks.

I'll give you this one. It's pretty nice. Even offers (or used to) growler fills. Unheard of in Pentacost, La.
