Not having to deal with BR traffic is worth at least 3 nights a week with nothing to do...at a minimum

To me, it's not the nothing to do. I make my own fun. But, there isn't a lot of motivation with people from there. They are epitome small town minded people. At least the women anyway. The biggest dream is getting married and having a baby (not necessarily in that order) and getting your own trailer.

Pineville/Alec - pretty much the same to an outsider.

I cant even begin to imagine how bipolar you are, and how much meds your parents had you on as a child

How long have you been there and what were you looking to do the day after Christmas? Or were you just thinking up something to start a thread?? I’m guessing the latter.

Dang girl, that's kind of mean. My entire family lives back in pineville. All of my first cousins (females) are college educated and have good jobs, didn't get married until after they were working. I'm college educated, have a good job and grew up in pineville. Of course you're going to have girls who's only goal is to get married a have babies, but that's not exactly exclusive to a small town in Louisiana. I've met women like that from every corner of the world. The cousins stayed or moved back home post college graduation, but that was due to their desire to live amongst their family. I'm the black sheep who stayed in Baton Rouge.
We have more to do in Baton Rouge, sure. But my quality of life is probably not as good as theirs, if being honest. I spend an entire work day's worth of time in traffic or stressing about traffic each week, pay a fortune so my kids get a good education, and have to worry about if I'll get shot at a public event in BR or NOLA.
I don't want to move back home, but I also see the value in living there. It's peaceful, the schools are good, and the people are good. It's all about what's important to you. If you need 100 crappy chain restaurants and strip malls to feel happy, then Pineville won't be for you.

This comes up once a year without fail, started by an outsider passing through. What do they know? Always some snotty OP starts it.
If you're the outdoors type, plenty to do. But Alex/Pineville is what it is, a small town and all that goes with it. Some people like less stress and a slower pace of life, and maybe prefer to raise a family in a place where just taking the trash outside is not a life-altering experience.
Every state has its own Alex but I don't see people shitting on Lufkin TX year after year.

Living in Elic has positives and negatives to it. It really isn't that bad.

Disclaimer: I've spent a considerable amount of time in Cenla.
I think one thing that is odd to someone from South Louisiana is the redneck accent factor.
Geographically speaking, Alex/Pineville is pretty close to South Louisiana. However, the country-arse accents seem super foreign.
That area has always felt like stepping back in time to me, with zero desire to change that.
Boring, fattening food. Obese population. Crappy shopping, both retail and grocery.
As mentioned earlier, the area feels very poor. For vibrant, progress-minded people, that's hard to stomach.
If that's your thing, more power to you. Just providing an outsider's point of view.

The grocery shopping options really are poor. If somebody came to town and opened up a higher end grocery store they would absolutely clean up. They'd get all the local Rapides gentry and pull people in from Natchitoches and Marksville.

Isnt lufkin twice the size of alexandria?

I live about 35 Miles south of “Elleck”.
It’s probably one of the worst small cities in America. So much culcha. Religion runs that town. Rumor has it that a Hooters tried to set up shop in the 90s and the Pentecostals ran them out of town within days.
Terrible terrible place to do anything.

The people talking about alex/pineville being poor is rich (pun intended). I bet some of these idiots are from BR and Nola and with those corrupt mayors both cities will fall further into the shitter! I'll take pineville where I can send my kid to at least a B school (which is public) and not pay out the arse. I'd rather visit those cities and be able to leave when I'm done (like a good prostitute)
