After installing My Alcohol Tracker, Echo owners can set a weekly goal, and ask Alexa to help them stay under that number.

Thank god. I'm usually too drunk to know how many I've had.

Alexa needs to learn how to make a sandwich before she starts criticizing my drinking

I hope Alexa never tracks our drunk conversations.

Alexa records everything involving her name, and you can play it back and often view a transcript in the app.

It's pretty scary how much information the government can keep on citizens.

What's even more scary is the number of people who have absolutely no issue with it.

Good in kitchen for measurement help, especially when your hands are dirty.

I also have one on bed side table. It plays white noise all night and at 7 AM it starts reading me the days news and weather.

You can use them from room to room as an intercom system too, which is really cool.

They play my Spotify playlists and connects to my Sirius account as well.

And that isn't even getting into the smart home capabilities like turning off lights, AC, etc.

I don't have an issue with them knowing what I search on the internet and ask Alexa for.

Not even a little bit.

They're tracking a lot more than just that.

It's not about having or not having an issue with it. Did the Equifax piece not show you on little it matters how much people care?

Not only that, I was involved with a market research project over 10 years ago. I was able to find, through resources that had been in existence for a few decades, over 200 cells of data on any individual person who had gone to high school. Their most likely address, their current salary, housing value, debt, what kinds of debt, completed levels of education, where they spent the most money market wise, how the government classified them, specific credit lines they held, various consumer factors including where and what they most likely consumed (Radio or TV), etc.

This was before smartphones, before the explosion of digital music, etc. Let me repeat, these resources were decades old. Decades.

ETA: And that was with a small, poorly funded state gov project. It was enough info to make fairly accurate psychological profiles off of.

Now they're inviting it into their home and paying for it
