Alec Baldwin’s trial for involuntary manslaughter in relation to the 2021 shooting on the set of “Rust” that resulted in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured another person is set to begin Tuesday—though it’s still unclear if Baldwin will testify.

Baldwin—who has been free without bail while awaiting trial, though he cannot drink alcohol or possess firearms—faces up to 18 months in prison if he is convicted.

The actor was in court on Monday for a pretrial hearing on allowable evidence and is expected to be at court each day.

Jury selection begins Tuesday, and Judge Mary Marlowe Summer said on Monday she expects Baldwin’s celebrity will not prevent them from selecting a jury in one day and beginning opening statements beginning on Wednesday, the Associated Press reported.

I know that. I'm asking why it's considered more than an accident. (specifics of what he should've have done differently, or what he did wrong)?

For the record, I don't like this clown. Just asking for specifics of the case.

I saw a picture of him sitting at the defense table, his hair is shorter and more salt than pepper, he was wearing heavy framed glasses. He looked more like Keith Olbermann than he wants to.

Jail him.

I think it comes down to negligence.

He didn't follow basic gun safety rules: Ones that, if disregarded, will wind up killing the one holding the gun or others, therefore he was negligent.

That's what he did wrong.

The other, almost as egregious thing he did, is being a disgusting little champagne socialist democrat who thinks the 2nd amendment is a lesser right, and who also just contributed to gun related death statistics.

He should be imprisoned for that hypocrisy, alone and of itself.

Among the allegations:
He was holding the gun which fired the fatal shot.
He claimed not to have pulled the trigger which is clearly untrue.
He was the producer who hired a sadly unqualified weapons handler because she was cheap and would do what she was told.
He ignored earlier issues of lax weapon and ammo control events which should have served as early warnings to correct bad practices.

Gotcha. Did they say who brought the real, loaded gun onto the movie set instead of a fake prop gun?

The dumbass DEI hire armorer is more to blame but ultimately Alec pulled the trigger

Baldwin knew he was holding a real gun. The 'prop gun' was real and it was known to everyone as such. That is why he's guilty.

From what I recall it wasn't an issue with having a real gun instead of a fake. The problem was they used the guns in their downtime for target practice and the ammo got mixed up in the armory. The gun was loaded with real ammo instead of blanks. Baldwin never cleared the gun, did not check to see what it was loaded with, was playing around himself with it as they were not actively filming the scene, pointed the weapon and pulled the trigger as he was clowning around between sets.

Damn.

Any idea if it's normal on movie set to use real guns? (presumably with fake ammunition)

Didn't they have one or more incidents of this before the fatal accident that were caught before loading the weapon with real ammo instead of blanks? I may be wrong on that, but I do know they were shooting real ammo out of the same firearm while not filming and that's just a huge risk in firearms safety on a movie set. There should never be any live ammo on or near a film set.
