Alcohol consumption stats of early America

Anyone ever look at the consumption stats of people in the 18tj and early 19th century, and see how crazy it was how much people drank? It averaged like gallons per person per month.
It always seemed quite wild to me.

Guess in the 18th you would have to be drunk to be willing to stand in a straight line and get shot at.

Lotta spoilage, loss, & breakage in there too.
Put another way, a higher percentage of today’s production actually is consumed.

They didnt have all the beverage options that we have now. It was booze, milk, or water (and the water could potentially make you sick).
