Would they fire him for flying a Gay flag and would the liberals be up in arms over that?

Bc they support a flag.
A-holes huh?

It's apparent you have deeper issues and are bitter and angry at white people for some reason or another.
Just my observation.

Sims says all this goes beyond the flag, all the way to his First Amendment right of free speech.

He forgets about the private company's right to fire someone for whatever reason they see fit. Free speech means protection from government persecution, not consequences of your peers/free market.

It's interesting how few people really understand how the first amendment works. You can say (pretty much) anything without fear of arrest thanks to the first amendment. That doesn't mean you express yourself with impunity in the workplace even after your boss warns you.

Do you know them personally? Know that they had that flag on their truck with hate against a race or are you just generalizing an entire group of people with your comment?

That's horseshite. Where does the line stop? Am I going to be fired bc I support the "wrong" presidential candidate? What if I have a pro life bumper sticker? What if I fly a gay pride or confederate flag at my home? At what point do I stop representing company X and represent brass2mouth?

I work as a contracts manager who employs Turner people. I can promise you that my company would be pissed off if Turner rednecks showed up on our company property with rebel flags.
Fck those guys for putting their company and coworkers at risk of getting thrown off the job site.
And no I didn't read the last five pages so sorry if already discussed

I'm surprised at the collective OT's opinion of being on the employer's side to this.
I hope my next company I run, I'll value the employee and his work far more than whatever bumper sticker, etc. he puts on his car.
I've seen blacks with big Obama faces and Malcolm X faces on it at work places and I was able to overlook that.

Was the guy's flag proven to affect the work production at the Turner company? I highly doubt it.
We created equal rights rules for everyone so they are protected under the constitution, but when a guy show's white heritage, yall are OK he's fired for it?
There's 0% chance the employee could be fired for having a rainbow sticker or one of those coexist stickers, not to mention a potential lawsuit for the company awaiting, but the confederate flag is fine for termination?

That they regulated what was in/on your personal vehicle in a public parking lot?

My last job was client facing and absolutely.

But all have had the policy that you are representatives of the company even out of office. Social media, public statements, etc

LOL.

I've seen people get fired on the spot for having ammo and cans of beer in their trucks in those "public" parking lots.
And it gets much more complicated if Turner is just the sub at a job site and their employees are showing up with this on their vehicles.

Which brings me back to my original post, about where that line ends.

If you support gay marriage/gay rights and fly a gay pride flag at your home, can you be fired for that b/c your boss is ultra conservative?

I get it if you have a company vehicle and bring it home and whatnot but I think at some point there needs to be a line drawn (by the court system apparently) that says at this point you are no longer representing your company and just representing yourself.

When I was in the military the line was drawn and you were limited to what you could/couldn't do while wearing the uniform, i.e. you could attend a KKK rally out of uniform on your personal time if you wanted. When I was a LEO I had a take home vehicle so I couldn't do certain things at my house for fear it being viewed as being supported by the department. I get that.

I just dont understand how we as a society are letting this type of activity continue. Pretty soon people are going to get fired for what type of tshirts they wear while on vacation on the other side of the country b/c somebody got offended and videotaped it.

They own the parking lot. They can decide what's displayed in/on it.

Not necessarily. If you have to go through a gate, like badge in and the gate open then thats one thing. However if its just an open parking lot for the public there are (at least in LA anyway) certain rights that extend to the employee that the company cannot infringe on.
