i think not wanting the government to regulate something like marriage is a more conservative belief
why? That doesn’t make sense.

acknowledging it exists =/= pushing an agenda

no matter how much you want it to. If anyone is pushing anything it's people claiming that an agenda is being pushed.

Conservatism used to care about a limited government that didn't regulate every little thing. I'm a registered independent, but that is the strain of conservatism I prefer.

The type of conservatism that is totally cool with an intrusive government controlling what people can watch depending on viewpoint...not into that.

Which is a major reason I dislike what Alabama's doing. Let people decide to watch or not. It isn't government's role to keep people from watching a gay wedding any more than it would be for government to mandate people watch a gay wedding.

The issue here is that who reads the subject matter before it airs? I sure as hell don't, that's an absurd thing to do before EVERY show your kids watch. There should be certain channels such as PBS that are free and safe for kids to watch.

My sister just married her partner 2 weeks ago. We had the convo with our 5 year old about 6 months ago. She was great with it and thought nothing of it really, just that it seemed very normal. Our 3 year old really didn't fully understand. My sister is obviously all up in arms about this, but at the same time if somewhere like California decided not to show something conservative leaning she would be all for it.

A quick google search shows something like 3% of weddings are same-sex. Not sure why a cartoon show even chooses to show a same sex wedding. Its unnecessary. I have no issue showing a same sex couple dating briefly. But a wedding is very much having an agenda.

This thread made me think of something that happened a few sundays ago.

I come in the house from mowing grass and it’s around 7-730. The Tv is still on from pga golf tournament that was playing on CBS.
I walk in and there on tv at primetime cbs Sunday eve is two dudes groping and making out against a wall.

I was like WTF? Sersioulsy?
Luckily my kids weren’t in there to see it.

I don’t care what you do in your house. Had this been on hbo or showtime or later at night I wouldn’t have thought much about it, but for it to be on network TV at 7 pm on Sunday I didn’t like it at all.

It is being forced on us whether you agree or not.
If you’re a man and you like to suck cock, then have it. I just don’t think it’s cool and damn sure don’t want my kids exposed to it at 6 and 9 yrs old.
