Most airports have become pretty efficient when it comes to security that you really don’t save much time going through pre-check.
It having to take off your shoes, take your computer out, and go through the X ray looking deal is worth $20 a year, even if your statement were true… and it’s not.

Chivalry isn’t completely dead.
This i agree with. But my wife has the ability to go get PreCheck as well. If she cant find the time (yeah, right) to get Precheck she can stand in line with the herd by herself...I'll buy her a coffee and have it waiting for her on the inside.

You don’t have to take your shoes off anymore and more and more airports have the scanners that allow you to keep your tablets and laptops in your bag. Probably most airports by now if I’m guessing.

Also turned down a first class upgrade. Just feel like an arse leaving the wife to fend for herself.
You could have upgraded one of your seats and given it to your wife she she apparently rarely travels.

She gets the upgrade. You get the sloppy top later

When traveling on a trip with the wife, do you leave her for upgrades?
Are you a real person?

Once you experience TSA-Pre at a major airport with huge lines it is literally the best money spent for traveling.
Now, the OP, stop being an arse and get your wife global entry and then let her use the upgrades and buy a first-class seat for yourself.

I have high level United status
You have "high level" United status and don't have clear for yourself?
quote:No you didn't. That's not how upgrades work, especially if you were in "gen pop" seats before hand.
Also turned down a first class upgrade
Bad troll brag post is bad troll brag post.

How about spend the $75 for 5 YEARS and just get her TSA Precheck.
I hope they raise the praises, to be totally honest. Clear+ is a great step up, but I don't need those lines becoming longer as well

holy shite is this a serious question

TSA precheck due to work travel.
TSA precheck is easy to acquire for anyone. Your wife should get that.

i understand what you're saying and i dont disagree, but damn it's infuriating that the government can force us to pay them more to be more efficient. like why isnt that just THE WAY
Posted on 9/8/25 at 10:07 am to BabyTac
No, I have global pre-check for the whole family, pay for my wife and daughter to join me in business / first / priority and they join me in the lounges.

Why would you not have TSA pre for the wife, it’s a couple bucks per year. Then if only one of us get upgraded to first class we switch off who gets it. However, I fly first class a lot for work so most of the time I just give it to her and sit in my free economy plus seat on united

I was checking in one time for a flight to Chicago. Had a regular seat. There was a man, woman and child in front of me talking to the agent and the wife was big mad. I listened in and he had gotten first class due to his status and miles and the wife and child were in the back. She was letting him have it.
Well, wanting to be a good helpful citizen I asked the lady what seats her and the child were in. Well, don't you know I was in the same row right next to them. I said if you want to trade out I would be happy to help and looked at the agent for approval. The wife said OMG yes that would be great. The husband was looking at me like he wanted to kill me.
It was an awesome flight in First Class to Chicago!

You know you could get her TSA PreCheck right? No status requires
Posted on 9/8/25 at 10:29 am to soccerfüt
We definitely sit together
She finally got pre check but before I’d take the bags and go get a coffee or something for us while she went through tsa - kept my shoes and n but did something nice with the time saved

The pause to ask is more telling than the actual post to ask.
Good luck w/dat.

Basically every major travel credit card includes Global Entry, which includes Precheck, as a free benefit. Someone who travels like Mr. Jetset up there claims to would have GE for both of them
You also get clear for free if you are 1K on United
