Volcanoes are unpredictable. All they know is activity shows it's likely about to blow due to increased steam, seismic activity, and mountain swelling. Lot of dead wildlife such as birds being seen in the area which is usually a good sign of an eruption coming.

yea it could take up to 2 weeks for it to blow, if it does at all.
Makes a live cam quite boring until it actually happens. You either have to have no life to sit and stare for days or just get really lucky to catch the initial explosion.

I'm wondering if we will start to see increased activity around the pacific ring of fire. Apparently the tectonic plate has been moving unusually fast at 4 inches per year and is under a ton of pressure currently. 2 major earthquakes in Mexico City and now agung about to blow...all lies on the same plate border that makes up the ring of fire

There is a volcano near me. The magma chamber is live. The most recent kablooie was 10,000 years ago. Usga website says this one and 5 others in the region from santa cruz to here are all due. Not a peep from any of them except for incessant small earthquakes. small earthquakes (2.0 to 4.0). I guess thats "peeps" but nothing unusual, no swarms.
I hate living near a volcano. Frigging property values go south if it swarms. I remember when the feds would not let people sell at all when there were swarms in the sierra.
