I smoked for about 12 years, from 15-27. You start feeling better close to immediately, first few weeks and months, but you'll also probably put on a little weight over the next year.

I quit in June after 30 years. I have no shortness of breath and my Drs say lungs sound great

I smoked off and on for 20 years. I've quit for 4 years or so now and am very happy that I did. I would say that noticeable differences started a little less than a week after I stopped.
I didn't quit because I necessarily wanted to but I got diagnosed with a genetic blood clotting disorder and my doc said I could continue to smoke as long as I had a death wish. I used that motivation and patches to do it. Once I got through the initial week or two, I found every craving got easier to beat.
Congrats on quitting, it sucks at first but isn't so bad in time. Besides the health benefits, there's a certain freedom that comes with not being a slave to those frickers. Take that in and enjoy it hand in hand with the health benefits...

I quit in January after only 10 years. Got an e cig and it helped tremendously. You get the same hand to mouth repetitive motion, gradually reduce nicotine, and you won't smell. I haven't had a single puff of a cigarette since January and I rarely ever use my vape, and even when I do, my juice has no nicotine in it.

Oh, you aren't really quitting. Dip gives a lot of the same negative effects as smoking. It's the actual nicotine in your system that causes a lot of the problems.

Good luck!
Be prepared...after you quit for a couple weeks you are gonna cough up some NASTY gunk as your lungs finally have the chance to purge themselves. So just be prepared for that.
You will notice a major difference like 3 weeks to a month after you quit.
Again, good luck, it WILL get easier I promise

My mother quit after smoking since she was a teenager. Nothing worked, and we had given up on pleading with her. Flu complications put her in the hospital two years ago, and the Dr told her she had to quit, no excuses. That's all it took, and she hasn't smoked since. She walks on the treadmill 18-20 minutes a day now, and they've been able to cut back her blood pressure medication.

That never happened to me and I smoked a lot for a long time.

I disagree with that. Maybe for the first week or two but after that, avoiding things you enjoy because you associate them with smoking is ultimately counterproductive. I found I blamed the habit for avoiding the things I liked to do and taking those situations head on was a significant hurdle each time I got through it. That's just my experience though, to each their own...

I smoked for 40+ years. I quit 1/1/14 and never looked back. Tempted yes bot said no.

yes.
you may not get full normal breathing back. the sooner you quit the better.
you will feel better in a week.
here's the regimen I used.
I used a juicer. citrus in the AM.
carrot celery and cucumber at noon.
broth at dinner. onion, celery carrot
a heavy snack before bed. oats with a banana or blueberries.
take showers often.
use epsom salt baths.
get massages.
do an enema the 2nd day.
do another enema the 5th day.
do that for a few days.
you can have green apples between meals, as many as you want.
exercise. sun bathe. rest. take the weekend off from hard duty.

My uncle did. He was about 20 when he started and 44 when he stopped. He is going on 65 now and has never smoked since he stopped. It took him about a year to start feeling better and stop the cravings.

It's impossible for me to drink and not smoke. I usually buy a pack once a week on the weekend. During the week though, camel snus. Also run 5Ks Sun-Thurs.

I quit cold turkey after 25 years of smoking but only for 5 years, then back to it for 10 years. When I decided I really wanted to quit, and you have to really want to,I used a patch for a little while. Don't vape or dip. You have to break the habit of putting something in your mouth all the time. If you need something in your mouth, chew on a straw. No booze for 2 weeks. You will feel better in about 2 weeks.

If you're really serious, my advice is to read the book "easy way to stop smoking" by Allen Carr. Read this book BEFORE you stop smoking. This book has helped millions kick the nicotine habit.
