Still pretty dumb to assume that U-Haul drivers are dangerous.

Have you ever operated a motorcycle? If you have, you will understand that the correct M.O. is to assume that all drivers of cars and trucks around you do not see you on the cycle. That's not to say that all drivers of other vehicles are stupid or inexperienced operators or bad technical drivers, it's just being prudent. The same dynamic is at work here with U-Haul (rental) trucks. Some U-Haul renters have CDLs, are professional truck drivers and are wonderfully competent truck operators.
Unfortunately there are other folks who rent large box vans who are on the other side of the operating spectrum. And it only takes one to make a bad day for folks. So, you are correct in your observation that not EVERY U-Haul driver is incompetent. Congratulations! I'll bet you are a lot of fun at parties with the "I always have to be right and get the last word" schtick.
My friend's observation, while admittedly not exact, is way more entertaining than your boorish and grammatically incorrect whining.

Honestly, Tracy may put forth the least effort of any truly funny man in Hollywood and constantly get laughs, and that's absolutely a compliment. Louis CK is my favorite living comic, but it's clear everything he does he thinks about and is structured.
Not so for Tracy. He doesn't put a seconds thought into what he is about to say, he is just absolutely naturally the funniest man I can think of. He really doesn't even try to be funny, but his first thought is always hilarious. He's a bizarre man, and this world will be worse off without him.

Georgia man charged in wreck that critically injures actor Tracy Morgan
quote:
A Georgia truck driver has been charged in connection with the wreck on the New Jersey Turnpike that left comedian-actor Tracy Morgan in critical condition and another man dead, the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office said in a statement released Saturday.
Kevin Roper, 35, of Jonesboro, was charged with one count of death by auto and four counts of assault by auto after the tractor-trailer he was driving crashed into the limo bus carrying the comedian and others, the statement said.
Initial reports indicated there were seven people injured in the crash, but the prosecutor's statement put the number at four.
Morgan's condition was not expected to change Saturday, publicist Lewis Kay said. "His family is now with him and he is receiving excellent care."
Morgan, 45, was a regular on "Saturday Night Live" for seven years and received an Emmy nomination for his role on "30 Rock," in which he played Tracy Jordan, an exaggerated version of himself.
The New York City native made his reputation with over-the-top characters and impressions of celebrities such as Mike Tyson and Oprah Winfrey.
The wreck occurred at about 1 a.m. ET on Saturday on the turnpike in Mercer County, said Sgt. Gregory Williams of New Jersey State Police.
"NJSP says the driver of the tractor-trailer failed to observe slow-moving traffic ahead," Williams said. "At the last minute, he swerved to try and avoid the Mercedes limo bus but struck it from behind, forcing the limo to rotate and overturn."
A limo passenger, 63-year-old James McNair of Peekshill, New York, was killed and three people besides Morgan were taken to the hospital, authorities said.
Actor Tracy Morgan in critical condition
McNair was a comedian who performed under the name Jimmy Mack, said his sister, Valerie Daniel. "He spoke very highly of Tracy," she told CNN. "They go way back."
The prosecutor's statement said Morgan and two others, whose identities have not been formally released, remain hospitalized in critical condition. The remaining passenger was treated at the hospital and was released, the statement said.
Four other vehicles were involved in the crash, the prosecutors said, but the people in those vehicles were not injured.
Williams said he does not believe alcohol played a role in the accident, but that is under investigation.
Brooke Buchanan, a Walmart spokesperson, said the truck driver is a Walmart employee.
"This is a tragedy and we are profoundly sorry that one of our trucks was involved," said Bill Simon, president and CEO of Walmart U.S., in a statement. "The facts are continuing to unfold. If it's determined that our truck caused the accident, Walmart will take full responsibility."
The National Transportation Safety Board will investigate "safety issues related to commercial trucking and limousine safety," said agency spokesman Keith Holloway.
Christopher Thompson, spokesman for limo owner Atlantic Transportation Services, said driver Tyrone Gale, who is part owner of the company, was shaken up.
"Although the investigation is still pending, we concur with the preliminary reports that the accident was caused by another vehicle traveling behind the Atlantic limo bus and we are grateful that our drivers did not sustain life-threatening injuries," Thompson said.
Morgan performed a comedy tour act Friday night at the Dover Downs Hotel & Casino in Dover, Delaware, the venue said.
Thompson said he thought the limo bus was heading to drop Morgan off in New Jersey.

Well enlighten us. I've had multiple....multiple people I know that by the grace of god didn't lose their lives bc of 18 wheelers. Hell, I had a buddy almost get run off the road and when he called the number on the back it was the driver who said after telling the driver he was calling the police " go ahead it wouldn't be the first time"

Are you saying that 18 wheelers ARE NOT the cause of several (2+) accidents every day in the whole country? You are a special kind of stupid.
I'd be willing to bet that is the situation everyday in this state alone.

Trucking accidents in involving tractor trailers weighing over 10,000 pounds often result in serious damage. Around half a million trucking accidents occur every year in the United States and out of these 5,212 18 wheeler accidents resulted in fatalities (2005). In fact, one out of every eight traffic fatalities involves an accident with a truck even though trucks are only 3% of the vehicles on the roads in the U.S.

Truck drivers are just as dumb as regular drivers fact. They are more dangerous though with an 20-80k bomb at their control.

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Tracy Morgan was recovering Sunday, but was expected to remain hospitalized for several weeks after having surgery on a broken leg suffered in a deadly chain-reaction crash on the New Jersey Turnpike that left two others critically injured and another man dead.
The 45-year-old actor and comedian, a former "Saturday Night Live" and "30 Rock" cast member, remained in critical condition but was "more responsive" Sunday after having surgery for a broken leg, said Morgan's spokesman, Lewis Kay.
Kay said that Morgan also sustained a broken femur, broken nose and several broken ribs and is expected to remain hospitalized for "several weeks." He said that Morgan's family is "tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans."
A Wal-Mart truck driver from Georgia was charged with death by auto and four counts of assault by auto. Authorities said 35-year-old Kevin Roper, of Jonesboro, apparently failed to slow for traffic ahead early Saturday in Cranbury Township and swerved at the last minute to avoid a crash. Instead, his big rig smashed into the back of Morgan's chauffeured Mercedes limo bus, killing comedian James "Jimmy Mack" McNair, authorities said.

Not really. U-Hauls are typically large trucks driven by people who usually don't have a lot of experience driving large trucks. While I wouldn't consider them a huge threat to people on the road it still is pretty safe to assume they are more dangerous than your average driver.

His leg was crushed and may have to be amputated but it looks like he is going to survive.

WASHINGTON, June 8, 2014 – UPDATE: 10:30pm – CNN Reports: Morgan suffered several injuries, including broken ribs, a broken nose, a broken leg and a broken femur. He underwent surgery on his leg on Sunday, Kay said, noting any road to recovery would be a long one.
“We expect him to remain in the hospital for several weeks,” he said.

Only 1 out of every 8 deaths in motor vehicle accidents involve trucks. Most of those are actual in rural locations.
To admit my bias, I used to go out on claims with my dad when he was an independent adjuster. All but one of the claims I went out on was the car's fault.
